Your Cricket Newbie bat advice

Hi all,

I'm a 30 year old newbie to playing cricket. Just joined a club and looking to buy my first bat. Just ordered the Gray-Nicolls Ignite 500 from JJB and was wondering if anyone had any comments on the bat.

Might be a model from two seasons ago. In fact, Ignite might even be discontinued in 2011, because the county season is generally when they launch new lines. Fashion aside, a proper bat for that price ought to be a steal.

well it all depends on, at what number you bat for your team, if you are just starting out go for a cheap one like Imran, Slazenger etc.

If you a top order batsman go for a light bat, then you can get the bat down on time for the faster bowlers, middle to lower odder go for heavy but not as heavy as you can even lift the bat up lol. Heavy ones are good for hard hitting

This one is a good bat but for my liking the edges are too thick

Tried bat before ordering, and felt perfect.

Now received bat - has been sitting in the shop since 2009 so on to the knocking in.
