Match 1: Karachi Killers Vs Islamabad: Iguanas Islamabad Iguanas won by 5 wickets
This game was very exciting, the track looked good all thought the game and the results reflect that. Karachi's batting showed through they played great cricket with bat, but that was never a doubt with the squad they had picked. With three half centuries in their innings, they impressed one and all. However, the bowling was a different matter. When they had posted a target of 300 for the Islamabad Iguanas, Virat Kohli stepped up to the task well and commanded his team to a victory, to start off their campaign on the positive. But it all comes back to the same thing, are Islamabad to reliant on Virat, had he not performed the team's batting would have crumbled under the task. No-one in their team was able to build on their start unlike Kohli, who dominated the bowling in all aspects of the game
Match 2: Lahore Lions Vs Rawalpindi Royals Lahore Lions won by 34 runs
Now that looked more one sided than the results make it sound and that is all thanks to Mahela Jayawardene who stood out like a sore thumb. He batted with finesse and with all partners. Not only this, they batted briskly and scored heavily, passing the 300 run mark comfortably. The good news of Lahore fans is that the Shoaib Malik, showed a lot of promise with the bat, after an forgetful year in the Pakistani team. The Rawalpindi bowling was poor, all bowlers with an economy of above 5. But they can't be blamed
as the track was an absolute beauty. The Rawalpindi batting is to be blamed, they where unable to build on starts and left too much on the shoulders of Shakib Al Hasan at the end. With Micheal Clarke, providing them with a solid start at the start, they seemed to be in the game until right till the end, when Imran Tahir wasted 24 balls to get to 6 runs, which beckons the question why was he spent above Rana Naved, an allrounder and a power hitter of the ball. Bad management, may have lead to the loss of Rawalpindi in the
game.
Match 3: Hyderabad Hyenas vs Multan Mahals Multan Mahals won by 4 wickets
The lowest scoring game of the lot, and the person to blame are none other than the players. This pitch, may not have been as good as the previous
tracks but it was still 200 odd runs in it. The batsmen at the top crumbled and left a lot for the middle order to do, with Awais Zia and Naved Malik doing the best they could. They performed well under pressure and for someone who has yet to make an international appearance it will definitely put them in the mind of the selectors. But lets not forget the bowlers of Multan Mahals, Hafeez and Afridi, bowled superbly as a duo and got 6 wickets between them. They allowed the ball to turn and bowled straight. The chase was an easy affair, yet the Multan Mahal batsmen made a hash of it at the start, will Chris Gayle played a rare, calm knock to settle his nerves, before being dismissed for a composed 65, but at time the damage had been done.
