Pakistan

Finally they announce name. Not a good choice IMO. I don't follow Pak cricket much, but still I feel that Misbah would've been better for that post.

Finally seems like we are actually prepared for this world cup now.

I read somewhere on cricinfo the Pakistan team has somehow found a strategy, whether intentionally or not. Got a decent pair of aggresive openers, Younis and Misbah to hold the innings in the middle, and Umar Akmal, Afridi and Razzaq to blast in the end. The bowling also seems to be prepared. Razzaq ties one end with the new ball, giving Akhtar the license to attack, Afridi and Hafeez keep it tight in the middle overs, and the likes of Gul and Riaz are good bowlers at the depth.

Afridi is the best captain at this point of time. Misbah is okay and is form is great but Afridi at this point of time cannot be replaced in the lineup. The series of NZ has shown what we can do, with three fantastic wins, but the collapse in the 1st ODI should not also be forgotten.

Its an impressive thing that player of Ajmals quality still finds himself at the bench, but tbf Hafeez has been doing a fine job that we dont really need him. Pretty sure hes going to play a part in the world cup though. Shehzad's century has helped him lock his place down, but even if things go bad for him, theres always the opportunity to get Akmal to open and bring in Shafiq. Tanvir looks like the only weak link but hopefully he turns it on when we need him.

Looking forward to the world cup now :D

Yeah good points by BKB. Pakistan have always had the talent. But we always lacked was strategy and planning. Waqar Younis seems to have induced that into the team. My only worry is fitness of Akhtar and inconsistency of Umar Gul.

Pakistan's whole pace attack is weakest of all the Worldcups they ever played but when you compare them with other teams and SC conditions they proved to be at par with other big teams. Inconsistency of Gul is because Pakistan lacks a top order pace bowler so inorder to fill this hole Gul needs to come early overs which he always hate and he didn't do this from many years. Pakistan must try Cheema in Warmup matches as He will put pressure on both Shoaib and Sohail to bowl better and also allow Umar Gul to bowl in later stage of the match when ball is old and it start to reverse.

I am worried about how Pakistani pace attack is shaping up for the tournament. Akhtar can't be trusted to bowl full ten overs. Umar Gul is too inconsistent to be of any impact across the whole tournament. In any match, he will produce that 70-0 spell :noway that can lose us the damn thing. Wahab is the only one I will put any faith in (strictly talking about bowling ability here ;)). I think Pakistan will go in with Gul, Riaz, Ajmal, and Afridi with Razzaq and Hafeez to bowl ten to fifteen overs between them.

i 100% agree with you in this matter i think we should not trust akhtar i mean how long it was when he did something extra ordinary?

Yet another surprise by PCB.
Injured Tanvir to be replaced by Junaid Khan, says the PCB.

Taking a player into the WC whom no one has ever heard off though the stats looks pretty impressive and I'm sure he will do a lot better than what Tanvir would have done but still I don't think its the right choice.

This surprise might turn gold for Pakistan since in 2007 and 2009 T20 WC we had tried Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Aamir respectively and both were pretty good in those tournaments.
I never saw Junaid Khan bowling since he is from a weak domestic team but his stats shows that he has loads of talent. Also from a single image of his bowling action it looks like that he has a straight arm action which will really help him to move the new ball a bit.
I happy with this late inclusion since Tanvir was really of no good.

If he is got selected, he must have some x-factor about him. I think he would be quicker than 140 KPH.

He is quick. I did some research on him and it shows that he is very similar to Aamir but remain unlucky that Aamir learned the game quickly.

At least his selection has produce a spark in Pakistan's lineup now.
