Rameez Raja.. A real embarrassment for all in the commentary box!

Rameez made another blunder yesterday!
when danny asked him a question,he told danny to shut up and stop shouting or something very close to that and answered totally irrelevent stuff.he obviously didn't hear what danny asked him.poor mr.raja

You Know its So easy to just stay out and criticise others...but never mind its like im talking to deaf ears...But the BOTTOM LINE is that The BCCI and IPL disagree with you and it is what THEY think that really matters...SO till then enjoy Rameez...

I am bit surprised with this. Pak Users like Rameez as he is the commentator of their country while India people dont like him but they also dont like commentators of their own country and they also thinks they are bad commentator than Rameez they why dont Pak people also agree that Rameez is not a good commentor but he is also not a bad commentator.

Rameez cracks me up. I lost it last T20 world cup with some of the things he says. I love his isms. they are hilarious.

Great post mate !

There are a lot of Haters on this forum.
There're always haters. But I think this is pretty straightforward. If you compared Raja to the likes of the Sky commentary team in England, you'd get a pretty good consensus as to who the odd one out is. And it's not just because he's Asian. The likes of Shastri and Gavaskar would get into the Sky commbox (and they did during the last tour of England by India, IIRC). Raja is just not in the top tier of commentators of the world... that's not saying he's the worst in the world.

I'd really like to see some people who criticize players/commentators/umpires to show what they can do.
This is such a fallacious argument. By that token, you cannot criticize anyone about anything. People have certain jobs because they have the necessary skills to perform that job. Do you not criticize companies like Microsoft for producing buggy software just because you don't have the resources to produce the level of enterprise software they do?

From where the hell is this question coming? We are not criticizing Rameez because he's a Pakistani or whatever, we are doing so because he's really a poor commentator.

King Cricket added 0 Minutes and 56 Seconds later...

Do you not criticize companies like Microsoft for producing buggy software just because you don't have the resources to produce the level of enterprise software they do?

And also do not criticize any actor/director/film beacuse you have never acted in a movie. :clap

One from today's semifinal,

"This is unreal! Surreal!"

More Rameezism:

"I know it's cold but you don't have to look like an animal."
Not quite Sydneygate, but close. Ramiz Raja gets a zing in at Danny Morrison, who is in a beanie, immediately after Ravi Shastri accused Morrison of wearing a "monkey cap"

"It's the other one, just like the other one."
This time, even Ramiz Raja doesn't know what he is talking about

"Amit Mishra can spin the ball."
Ramiz Raja makes a shocking revelation

"I'm not an Incredible Hulk, like Danny Morrison. I'm a thin guy from the subcontinent."

Ramiz Raja tells the world just what he is

:crying

Rameez was part of the Sky Commentary team in 2006, as well as 2001, 2003, and 2004 (ICC Champions Trophy)

And I thought on those occassions he was quite good. Maybe he lets his hair down for the IPC.

Rameez's main problem is that he always tries to rhyme things and give a poetic touch to his commentary. Which more often than not turns out to be quite idiotic and silly. Everybody cannot do everything.

Still Ranjit Fernando rules

"In the World Cup Finals, Australia were cruising along and it was the end of the 33rd over. Aussies were 237 at that stage and were in full flourish with 5 overs remaining. Enter Ranjit Fernando; he says Australia will look for something around 260 !?!?!? Even singles would have gotten them more than that. Does this guy really have any cricketing sense at all?"

Some of his favorite phrases

  • Breaking the shackles
  • Trifle short
  • No mug with the ball / bat
  • Never going to be an easy proposition
  • Sweeps, and sweeps well
  • Fluttering away
  • Experienced campaigner
  • Tormentor
  • Marshalled his troops
  • Nothing to write home about
  • Maintaining his composure
  • Valiant effort
  • Pitch has good carry
  • This is a pressure-cooker situation

Here he is... talking about Malinga

Fernando:
Yes one must understand that Malinga has a unique action.

Fernando(After 3 sentences):
Yes one must understand that Malinga has a unique action.

Fernando(After another 3 sentences):
Yes one must understand that Malinga has a peculiar action.

Fernando(After another 3 sentences):
Yes one must understand that Malinga has a intriguing action.

Ramiz is a better commentator than Amir Sohail,LS,Athar Ali and Arun Lal at least.

I remember a line from Aamir Sohail , a real classic where he shows off his medical prowess when Tendulkar cramped up during the 2003 WC '' When you play against Pakistan, there is a lot of pressure and in such cases, you sweat a lot.That is why Sachin has cramps'' !!
A medical genius Sohail ! It ranks right up there with all those comments where Arun Lal tends to play the tour guide and wildlife expert.
