zMario, I see where you're coming from. I guess we just have different expectations from commentators. There are several different types of commentators. If all commentators were former stars who knew how to play the game but didn't know how to talk, I'd watch the game on mute. If all commentators had never played the game but had watched it for their whole lives, I'd watch the game on mute. I guess the key is mixing it in balance.
One of my top priorities, though, is that they must be pleasant on the ears. This is why I cannot stand the commentary during the Ranji matches that are broadcast on Neo Cricket (commentary by Arun Lal and Laxman Sivaramakrishnan) because after a while I develop an earache. They've both played Test cricket with varying levels of success, but listening to them talk just increases my blood pressure!
