Sir Percy eh? Loved the novel. So back when I was doing my 7th or 8th grade in India, we had English 1 and English 2 as two separate subjects. English 1 would focus on a novel you have to read, remember and give test for that year and English 2 would focus on grammar. I was obsessed with Scarlet Pimpernel and Marguerite.
