Yea tutorials are intense. Working my way up from single engine right now, jets seem so far away but it will be worth it knowing how to fly them properly. Tried to take off a 747 and lets just say it did not end too well
It gets a lot easier. 737 is the easiest to learn in jets. Flaps create a bigger surface area of wing, thus, allowing the plane to take-off and stay in the air at a lower speed because it generates more lift. Check the kneeboard - (f10) for the recommended flap speeds in an aircraft. Typically, taking off use 5 flaps on 737 and 30-40 landing.
You'll soon be using the GPS to find the ILS frequency for an airports runway, putting it into the nav stack and letting the autopilot land for you.
It's ashame Microsoft stopped the multiplayer
Get yourself a decent joystick!
fling me I'm a geek.
Finally someone bit on my flight sim bait!
I am no wear close to jets yet mate, still doing the private pilot tutorials. I am basically planning small flights within Texas (with ad on scenery its very realistic) and using proper ATC and aviation rules to complete them.
Biggest problem I am having is controlling the plane while taxiing and finding out where to go once I have landed, ATC says to go to X hanger using X Taxiway but there are no marking anywhere!
What is a good step up from the single engine cessna? I want something capable of longer distance flights, my plane starts to run out of fuel the moment I leave Texas.

Found a great flight sim forum but its mostly real private/commercial pilots and they are not to keen on helping newbies
There are soooooo many ad ons for this game its unbelievable.
How do I open a new window?
Im using FS2004 with a keyboard. Still have not gotten the joystick.
Thanks for all the tips man, I think I might make a new thread for this and pick your brain a bit more.
Will look into the progressive taxi as soon as I figure out how to open a new window.

Inbetweeners is pretty good. Thanks for the tip Mark. Watched the first 3 episodes. Initially I thought it was just going to be mindless child humour, but the jokes are actually quite clever. On to episode 4...
As if Mark's taking the credit for it...
