I am turning 20 in a few months as well, and I feel like I havent utilised my childhood at all :facepalm

How are Birthday's a happy occasion? They just remind you that you are a year closer to the end of your life; that another year has gone by and you haven't accomplished anything. Which each passing year you are supposed to be 'older' and assume more responsibilities and have to be serious. Supposed to be wiser. No room for childishness; for innocence and fun and relaxing.

:/

Lol these are the things I tell people on their birthdays just to destroy their spirits

I thought along similar lines when I turned 20 recently :p
And then i realised I turned 20 and probably am beginning one of the best period of my life

Lol wishing someone happy birthday is nothing more than a custom nowadays. After you are something like 17 plus, you stop caring about your birthdays at all, of course, besides a few or so when you feel like enjoying.

I think that my graduate life would be devastating and stressful too much. You give me hope. :p

Well I still feel people overhype the stress. Of course, I haven't experienced uni, but at school it is, surely.

Uni's awesome. Lots of work but stress is just a state of mind. If you need stress to make your work, then you'll be stressed. But if you're capable of working all day and getting what needs to be done, done, without freaking out, then you'll be fine. Lots of fun in Uni. The work takes up a lot of your time tho, but it motivates you to enjoy your free moments more than you would normally.

I don't like the perception that because you're older you need to give up childish hobbies and activities or become more 'serious'. As long as you don't let people down, do what you need to do, are responsible and mature and don't need your parents to bail you out, you should be free to act how you like yea?

Shut up you lot! I turn 22 in January. You know what that means? I can't pretend to be young anymore! 20, hey, you're just out of your teens, keep on partying! 21, woo, it's the big one after 18. 22, hellooooo, go get a job and pay your taxes! My mum was engaged by 22. My dad had travelled the world and had been working for 6 years at 22. One of my mates is 22 and just got married. OH MY GOD, I'M GOING TO BE OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :noway

Ohh trust me its not that bad. I mean yes its stressful and at peak times you feel like ripping your hair out. But overall the cons definitely not outweighed by the pros. The key is your approach to life at that stage ;)
