you know you could just drink coffee right? lol wtf

I don't like coffee at all, but I do like tea. I would have put tons of sugar in, but it turns out we didn't have any. Failing that I just chucked half a spoonful of coffee in. It worked... but it wasn't exactly enjoyable haha

Still, all done :)

About ready to kill myself now. Done 4 and a half hours of work resulting in 900 words being written. Need a minimum of 750 more now and then a bibliography in the next 6 hours.

Seem to be making the same point over and over again now though, and have no more ideas, so pretty much copying and pasting quotes from journals.

Here is my question, let me know if you have any ideas:

"Drawing on academic analyses and arguments, identify key ways in which and to what ends either the film or television industries have harnessed audience participation in the past ten years." I'm talking about the television side of things.

Presumably it means reality TV (no expensive script writers and actors) as well as people voting from home on X Factor type programmes. Rise of social networking would be an aspect I suppose.
Next time give me some notice and I'll write it for you for a largish fee (talking ?500 min for a first and ?300 for a 2;1).

What do you mean by audience participation?

The audience influencing television texts or participating in discussion.

So far I have these examples:
- Big Brother, X Factor, ect (audiencing voting influence)
- Big Brother's Big Mouth (audience participation in discussion)
- TelevisionWithoutPity.com (Message boards where fans can express their thoughts on shows, providing feedback for producers)
- Lost/The Lost Experience (Involving the audience in a separate story/involvement outside of the show itself)
- Twitter/CBS Social Sweep Week (The ability for audiences to speak to writers and actors of shows)
- Skins and E20 (Offering the opportunity to win competitions to become writers/extras for the show).

All that and still 700 words short.

Yeah, but not just reality TV and social networking. Cult television is a big part of it as well. As you can see above I have covered all 3 in some form.

I have to admit that I'm actually a member of TWOP. I used to post on their West Wing boards back when they were MightyBigTV. The key there was that the networks read it and Aaron Sorkin even posted there for a while (and wrote his experience into an episode).

Yeah, that's pretty much what I've talked about, the producers using the feedback more effectively than that of industry critics. There are several journals that mention it.

My big problem is that there are a lot of journals that have been listed for us on the same sort of thing. Nothing on Twitter because it is too recent.

I'll bypass the fact that you know what that is simply because you've given me what I needed to get this finished. Ta Ste. Muchas Gracias.

Okay, maybe not to finish it, but it's taken a chunk out of it.

Tell em what you're gonna say, then tell them and then conclude by telling em again. Essay done.

Pretty much done that already. Decided to not waste time doing nothing and get on with the bibliography. Still need 400 words and have absolutely no idea where to get them from.

Boom, the toilet is a brilliant place to get ideas. Just having a piss and bam, 'Million Pound Drop' and 'Red or Black' pop into my head (Nothing to do with the colour of my piss, it was normal, although those titles in context make for rather humerous innuendos).

USA news: USA captain Massiah arrested in fraud case | USA Cricket News | ESPN Cricinfo

USACA crumbling and burning as I had predicted. I met this guy when I was down in Miami, he came across as a self-entitled lazy twat. There is only one guy at USACA who is genuinely interested in cricket, that is John Thickett. The rest are all just crooks who are trying to milk local governments and sponsors.

Cricket won't ever take here, MLB, NFL, NBA, NCAAF, NCAAB, NASCAR, INDY and then all these sports have minor leagues. We have too much sport with solid infrastructure and marketing for something new to take hold.

The only sport that will break the American market is soccer, and it has had a very slow 3-4 decade uphill battle. Even now, despite soccer being played in most highschools, there is little to 0 professional soccer in the public mainstream.

They are better off just promoting International cricket and milking the expats, that's all it ever will be.
