Actually my parents said the same and explained but I don't understand it. how come it bothers you, you are not even muslim, am I right?

Nope, I'm not. Not really into any religion actually, although I am a Hindu otherwise. I believe in God, but none in particular. Those posters there really want me to know the reason, thats all. I've heard a lot of things from the Quran, but nothing that stands as a reason for that.

My dad taught me a fair bit about Islam and from what he told me I gathered that saying 'Merry Christmas' is accepting that Jesus was born on the day as a son of God, which a Muslim should not believe as God is one and only with no children or parents as said in the Qur'an. Hope it cleared your doubts Varun. I would not like to go deeper into this as mainly it's a cricket forum and this is as far as my knowledge goes. :)

it isn't though. many entirely secular people celebrate christmas, for a lot of people it's essentially just a social and cultural holiday.

To wish someone happiness on a day special/important to them is just basic manners, politeness and mildly humanitarian. To not wish someone well as a religious point is rude, divisive and quite frankly not very nice.

I have no issue wishing Muslims Eid Mubarak, Hindus to have a pleasant Diwali, Jews whatever (they have a lot of holidays, felt like I was saying something once a week to the Jewish girl I used to house-share with)

If Allah can't differentiate between a token gesture of goodwill and a blasphemous acceptance of an alternate religion then quite frankly he isn't worth worshiping. This nonsense is being spread by people who want to stir up controversy.

Interesting that is. I wonder how do Muslims in India celebrate most Hindu festivals then. Most Hindu Gods are children of another God. I would strongly agree on what Ste says, and I quote:

Friend863 username is probably the most immature thing I did on internet. I was 12 or 13 when I joined PC. I remember 863 was my Examination Roll number that time. Still got no idea why I opted for Friend. I didn't even knew what Username meant because it was my first website that asked about username. I hate it whenever I see it myself but getting used to it so don't want to change it now. That said, I have seen some weird usernames on PC.

I didn't know that. But that is interesting. Also if you change it now, people wouldn't recognize you as the guy who changed Cricket 07. It is like an old brand.

My username is obvious. My real name is Syed Nabhan Ahmad. Hence Ahmad, and I born in 1994 so it is Ahmad94. Only name I could think of when I joined PC.
