Debatable. Graphics and feature-wise Pokemon games tend to improve with every new game - and they've finally transitioned into almost-complete 3D with X and Y. Most people you'd ask though would prefer the older games/generations, primarily because they were simple in design, and nostalgia. With the total number of pokemon exceeding 700 now, some also feel it's getting a little crowded and the original 151/251 was where they should have capped it. Each to his own, I guess.

As for me, I love Emerald and Heart Gold/Soul Silver the most, but like all the other games as well. There's no reason to hate. Unless you believe that Pokemon is a scheme by the capitalists to brainwash and control children (and adults).

For me it was Yellow, as that was the first one I got for my birthday. Also that is when Pikachu came in to the game.

I was a huge fan of Pokemon at very young age, probably when I was in 3rd or 4th class. I remember me with my friend used have all the knowledge about Pokemon's and had huge collection of Pokemon cards. We created virtual pokemon fights with friends. I waited for a long time for a Pokemon game to come on NES but unfortunately it never came out (or as for my memory). I gave up and never had the chance to play proper Pokemon game. I don't have a console which have my favourite childhood game. Might as well as try some kind of emulator since I can't afford 3DS.

Don't think we are allowed to talk about emulators here, but AFAIK the 3DS hasn't been hacked yet so there are no emulators. Otherwise, I wouldn't think of shelling out so much money.

I'm a good player, but Yu-Gi-Oh got boring after a while (after 2009). Overkill of cards. Perhaps Pokemon would get too, after 7th or 8th generation.
