Random Thoughts

Snowed like hell in the Midlands, was off today. Unfortunately back in tomorrow, but only got a double of Physics. God I hate sixth from.

Has anybody taken a franchisee of any restaurant? My father was thinking of taking a McDonald's franchisee so that things are smooth even after retirement. Although it sounds cool, I'd actually like to know opinions from people who know much about this. What are the cons?

McDonalds is very cheap and has no respect. Personally, I would suggest Pizza Hut or a KFC (everyone loves the colonel.)

Guy I know (friend's neighbor) that owns 2 McDonalds in a small hick town in central michigan. The guy has 2 ferraris.

As per what I've learnt from the terms and conditions, its only the initial investment which you recover within a year and a half to two. Then its only profits(keeping aside license renewal costs). The company sets up everything right from furnishing the area to the delivery boys. Even the manager is recruited by them. At the moment it just sounds too correct, and maybe that's what's making me skeptical.

Sounds like you need to do some market research and costings. What fast food restaurants are there locally? Why isn't there a Macdonalds? What volume of sales is your break even? etc

Macas is known primarily for their beef burgers, most if not all Indians dont consume beef, so this may work against you!

McDonald's in India doesn't serve beef. Its only chicken (:().

There are quite a lot fast food outlets there. There's already one McDonald's outlet, but a bit far. We're sure it should work out well, given the spending potential in the area, plus that we are going to open it in a mall. The market and sales part is for my father and brother to handle, so I have no idea of that but just an overview.

That's what the main problem is, anyways McD is a great choice. Always crowded whether in Mumbai or in Delhi. I don't think that there will be cons of owning it that too in India.
