Random Thoughts

I have a cricket question! :)

If a batter hits the ball and a fielder catches it, is that batter automatically out of the game? :)

How long does a game of cricket last?

Does cricket go into extra time like football?

If a spectator catches the ball does the batsman have another go?

:wave

The Time depends on what format of cricket it is.
There are 3 formats in the international Cricket:
1. T20 (20-20 Overs)
2. ODI (50-50 Overs)
3. Test Match (It takes 4-5 days)
A Overs consist of 6 balls.

A cricket goes for super Overs in case of tie scores.

If a spectator catches the ball then he/she has to return it to the fielder.

Brilliant! I'm learning fast thanks to you guys! :clap

The little trophy that England and Australia play for is actually the replica of the original urn, which had burnt ashes from bails of a stump, not cricket bat. The original urn is in possesion of the MCC. Hope this was helpful :D
Even I didn't know about this. I thought they used the original one. Thanks for clarifying it. :thumbs

Time for more cricket questions too! :p

Could someone explain what LBW means?

Is there a reason why cricket outfits are white?

Is cricket Indias national sport?

:D

Is cricket Indias national sport
Nope
Hockey is the national sport of India.
Cricket is the national sport of West Indies.
Is there a reason why cricket outfits are white?
Only TEST Matches have a white jersey with team logo, sponsors and the player name and number.
In other formats of cricket every country have their unique jerseys.

It is quite difficult to explain LBW.
It stands for Leg Before Wicket.
When the ball hits the batsman's body (except hands) without having contact with the bat then LBW happens.
There are certain conditions after which it is given OUT.
1. Ball shouldn't pitch/hit the ground outside the line of leg stump.
2. The impact where the ball hits the pads should be on the stumps(only when batsman tries to play a genuine shot).
3. If there was no pads and batsman the ball should hit the stumps.
