Response from ECB regarding AC13...

The main thing that boggles me is that 505 games have released a collection of quite polish and rather good games. I am almost certain there shall be a lawsuit being prepared because it is quite obvious the game devs would have lied to the publishers. It is also possible that the game was given to steam without 505's approval which could account for its removal?

It might also explain the silence as they prepare legal action. Though I could be wrong in spectacular fashion.

I've just had an e-mail saying that an official statement is being prepared. Could be before Friday - I don't know.

"Dear everyone,

Here at 505 we thought Trickstar did an ok job with the tweaks they made to Ashes 09, so we thought we'd let them make a whole game from scratch this time!

Whoops!"

The irony being that had they shelled out and bought the IC10 code it would not only have been cheaper and caused less reputational damage it would also have been ready on time.

Fingers crossed they announce that AC13 has been cancelled paving the way for DBC14! :cheers

What do you reckon barmy?

I really have no idea on this one. That does feel like the most likely outcome though.
I'm told the statement should be with us tomorrow not Friday but that depends on the usual stakeholder sign-offs.

I think one likely outcome is that it will cement further the reputation cricket has as a sport that is very difficult and financially unrewarding to try and adapt for the video game market.

If you mean 2010 then that was really just a patch put on the existing 2009. Otherwise what have they actually produced?

Unfortunately, I think this is a real possibility. It really comes down even harder for Ross and his guys to really nail their game... otherwise, we may be witnessing the death of Cricket on consoles for quite some time. I have every confidence those guys are going to hit it out of the park; They're not messing around and they're not hiding the game from us.

Ashes seems to have caused trouble for Bigant.

Really if Bradman Cricket releases post ashes in the UK winter it could have problems getting publicity.

With a football world cup next summer I fear the horse has bolted sales wise for Bradman.

Yeah but sadly selling entertainment products is an awful lot more difficult than just making a good product.

Is there a big enough market for a 'serious' cricket game to sustain a series with a reasonable budget? Can they keep both serious and casual fans happy?

Personally, I'm hoping everybody loves it and enough people buy it to greenlight future versions, or incremental development through DLC.

The Ashes debacle has presented Cricket to the world to as a farce, the game itself has been brought into disrepute, video game representations of it more so.

If Don Bradman Cricket 14 does not succeed then I am reasonably sure will not see another console Cricket game ever again.

Those who do not wish to see what is going on and ignore the facts clearly before them are fools. Their wish to "play it now" bears no weight for me at all, I have a large investment to protect and I'm here for the long haul. I have no problems losing a battle here and there as long as I win the war.

A cricket game sells better when the ashes are on - the debacle as you call it has shown the intensity and passion of the sport.

Without the ashes prompting interest a cricket game will struggle to compete with the football world cup next summer and an inevitable game from ea.

time is short.

It is easy for us as English and Australians to assume that the Ashes is the pinnacle of cricket. For us, of course it is, but in the subcontinent I bet you that the World Cup in 2015 will be the bigger event.

We are really only talking about the release of the 14 version - 15 could be the one to aim at the world cup I would think.
