I picked up Fall of the Samurai from Amazon a few days before that sale started - ?9.99, so saved a few quid, and it was the limited edition, so comes with an extra playable faction.

Yeah the ones before Rome don't really hold up to the test of time. However Medieval 2 is really good. Shogun 2 (most recently released one) is supposed to be pretty good. This should be awesome, as Rome just seems to lend itself really well to the setup.

Shogun 2 is good - the melee battles are really violent. You can see and hear each clash of swords, and the sound you get when you stick someone through the throat with a katana is just... disgusting. Also, arrows now stick in the troops - and stay there.

Get the Blood pack as well - it's only ?1.

Gameplay preference (unit speed, death frequency etc - NOT DIFFICULTY LEVEL) sliders for TW games? - Total War Center Forums

Fifa style gameplay sliders in TW games - not for difficulty levels, but for things like unit speed, death frequency and so on. Most of us over at TW Center think it's a great idea - if you do as well, vote.

Welcome to our happy little club of excited Romans. I'm also worried about my PC's ability to play the game - but CA have said that they're trying to keep the requirements similar to Shogun 2 - and also, Shogun 2 wasn't properly optimised for multi-core CPUs. If Rome 2 is, maybe it'll run fine.

Me too!!! Me too!!! Just I don't visit PC much anymore. Love RTW, still my most played game, my gf has taken to giving me Rome time, where she knows just to leave me alone so in her mind "You don't turn into a geek." 17,500+ posts on a cricket forum love *cough*

Pretty certain my laptop won't be able to run RTW, but I've also calculated by the time RTW2 comes out I should have a lot more disposable cash (but a lot less free time ) so should be able to buy something able to handle it. I haven't played a TW game since MTW2 but apparently Shogun wound a lot of people up as it was thought to have lost the TW feel.

I say as long as they keep the original RTW feel, they'll be on the right tracks. No point in fixing something if it ain't broke, I think the fact that RTW was recently voted the 6th all time best game shows how awesome it was. Now if you don't mind, I'm off to pillage Carthage again

Rome 2 E3 info due tomorrow at 4.20 pm PDT. Whatever that means in UK time, I haven't the faintest.

Apparently, they're aiming to make Rome 2 playable on not only laptops, but laptops with integrated GPUs! Ambitious? We'll see.

No reason they can't make it massively scaleable. As long as there's the processing power to power the AI, the graphics should be able to to be turned right down.

I'd definitely turn down the settings if it meant more scale

Conflicting information, but some people say that there's going to be some Rome 2 E3 stuff in the very early hours tomorrow morning; if I hear more, I'll let you know!

Edit: I sat watching that with an idiotic grin on my face all the way through! CA, give me this game right now!!!! Just take my money!!!
