Its not Cricket 2005 but it is made by the HB Studios who will also be making Cricket 2006 so here is some details of it and some screenshots:

"CHERTSEY, Surrey. ? November 5, 2005 ? Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) the World's leading interactive entertainment software company, announced today that EA SPORTSTM Rugby 06, from the makers of the hit franchises FIFA and NHL, is currently under development at EA Canada and HB Studios for the PlayStation?2 computer entertainment system, Xbox? videogame system from Microsoft and PC.

EA SPORTSTM Rugby 06 will challenge gamers to compete in a host of the World's most prestigious rugby competitions including the Six Nations, Lions Tour, Tri Nations, Guinness Premiership and the Super 14.

EA SPORTSTM Rugby 06's exhilarating gameplay now mirrors the real thing closer than ever before, with new moves such as off-load passes, quick line-outs and quick penalties that encourage attacking, momentum-driven rugby. Gamers can also dictate play with their star Impact Players and can choose from a legion of new set plays to pile on the pressure and keep their opponents firmly on the back foot.

With TV-style presentation, stadiums from all over the world, including Twickenham, Lansdowne Road, the Millennium stadium and Murrayfield and commentary from the respected commentator Ian Robertson and All Black legend Grant Fox, EA SPORTSTM delivers the most action-packed and free-flowing rugby game ever."

I think from this we can assume that Cricket 2006 will be called Cricket 06.

Looks about the same as rugby 2005. I hope they do more improvement in cricket 06 than just the graphics. e.g New commentators!

No player's name on the shirt..........ahhhh...........!

What are you on about?? It's a rugby game, they don't have names on their back

and we can never rule out the possibility of EA reducing the number of stadia in Cricket 06 to less than 10 !
they should at least have 35 regular stadia and a few generic stadium models ! At least we will have a few names of stadiums though not accurately modelled on the real ones !
A generic model could be named as the Mumbai stadium etc

yup, Nba live 2006 is nba live 06. It is very good, mind you. The commentry's not choppy, the player's faces are very accurate, and so are the body shapes. Lookin' forward to it.

I'll be interested in how both Rugby "06" and Cricket 06 turn out. Every rugby game so far has been pretty crap, I think due to the lack of the US market.

Guys gota remember, it'll only be the alpha version.. or alpha testing stages.. it probably will look quite a lot different from the actual retail version (im guessing) coz most developers look at the graphics part of it last..

Some more info ........

Key features
Impact players
Rugby 06 captures the abilities of world's finest Rugby stars. Users can utilise these abilities and if called upon in the right situation, the star player can have a key "Impact" on the outcome of the match.

Increased Tactical Plays
Over 25 tactical set plays can be mapped to the controller. This allows the user the option of choosing/changing the plays in accordance to what they believe to be the most effective or that which best suits their playing style.

Off-Load Passing
Players can pass out of a tackle. By being able to off load the ball once the defender has been drawn into the tackle, users can exploit the gaps that will be left by those defenders. This feature will also allow for a more flowing game.

Quick Penalties & Lineouts
Users can now execute quick penalties immediately after it has been called. This feature if used in right situations is designed to continue the games objective on improved and freer flowing gameplay. The same principle has been applied to the all new quick lineouts which users can utilise, in order to maintain the pace or flow of an attack.

Comprehensive Commentary
Legendary former All Black's star Grant Fox provides all new commentary along with updated commentary by Ian Robertson. A combination of the two creates an authentic and realistic sounding in-game commentary.

Enhanced Stadiums and Conditions
Improved stadium visuals include rolling banners, improved textures, 3D grass accompanied by different pitch patterns and team specific animated flags. The stadiums are complimented by new weather conditions such as snow and fog, with visible player breath and steam off the packs in cold weather conditions.

World League Mode
Rugby 06 incorporates a number of career mode enhancements to give a more compelling world league experience. Users can try to build a super team by making use of the in depth transfer market at their disposal. With all new club objectives and performance based offers from rival clubs, only the best managers will survive.

Teams and Tournaments
In addition to last year, Rugby 06 has added more licensed teams and tournaments including the Guinness Premiership.

Some people have mentioned a change in commentary? Is this an actual change in the people doing the commentary?

Grant Fox is in for Murray Mexted, Robertson stay's...

I sincerely hope that HB just leave the graphics alone and actually concentrate on gameplay this time (wishful thinking). What you do shouldn't be determind by which animation the AI decide's to use...

Also look out for Rugby Challenge 2006, Swordfish Studios last game and it's looking good.

EDIT: Having just read through bazz118's post, it seem's like there will be more graphical gimmick's. I really don't care about 3D grass if it mean's there is less work on the gameplay, do they ever learn? At the person who said each of the rugby games have been crap. Rugby 2004 and 2005 were both made by HB Studios, who have shown themselves to be incapable. Maybe it's time EA actually did it themselves. I still play Jonah Lomu Rugby, say's it all for me.

Robertson is the bad commentator. Mexted is quite good as was the Aussie one in 04. May be EA will change the commetators for Cricket 06 ;)

As for the challenge game its more for you English rather than the Aussies and Kiwis. But it looks like a good game.

Someone mentioned that game developers usually work on graphics last.

Not if you're EA Sports/HB Studios apparently.

I bet the first thing that HB did was speak to the people who improved the graphics engine for FIFA 06 and went cap-in-hand to them and asked to use their graphics engine again. Then they had a party for a week. And then messed around playing Rugby 2005 with new graphics. Someone from EA came and asked them how they were doing with the new game. They showed them some screenshots and told them how it was going well.

Then they realised that they better actually do something before release. They put some stars above some players heads, and put in the offloads which they took out of the last release because it was hard to program, apparently.

Then the game is released and people immediately think it is great as it looks nice and has nice replays and decent sound (albeit probably nicked straight from FIFA games). Then people realise it's a one-dimensional piece of crap.

They then make another game.

Ask if they can borrow the new FIFA graphics engine......

The cycle continues....
