Do yall think Sachin tennis elbow is due to the fact that he uses a very heavy bat? Do you think he should play with a lighter bat?

I think in order for him to play longer for India he has to play with a lighter bat. In recent interview he denied that using heavy bat had anything to do with his elbow injury. In the same breath he said that his return to cricket will depend on what the doctors working on him will say. Ramakant Acherekar has advised Sachin to use lighter bats for a long time now but has had no effect on Sachin. I hope the doctors advise him to use lighter bat because that's the only way he is going to play with a light bat.

tendulkar needs rest and he might be opting out of the pak tour too.
i do not think that this injury is because he is using a heavy bat.

No.. He should not opt out of the series against Pak. That would be a psychological blow for us!

from those causes and the occupations it is more likely to affect - it seems it has nothing to do with the heavy bat....perhaps he shouldn't have toured Bangladesh - rest is the key and I think the recent reports about his not being available for Pakistan series is a misplaced interpretation of his comments by the media...today morning i saw an interview where he said - "I have been advised to rest for 5-6 weeks"...and 1st test against Pak begins in 6 weeks time...so the media have just invented the rumor...

EDIT: or am I wrong...http://ind.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/CRICKET_NEWS/2005/JAN/166931_IND_24JAN2005.html

interpret it as you like..

he should have dropped out of bangladesh and made the historic century against pak .doing it against minnows wont help.
i dont think he would drop out of the entire pak tour ,just maybe miss a test match or two. which is quite common with india.

I feel using a lighter bat will definately help Tendulkar. Of Course it will take him time to get used to it but he can use the lighter bat more effectively at this stage of his career. Anyhow he is not the same flamboyant batsman mixing timing with power and crossing the boundary line with ease. He has grown into a mature batsman who builds his innings with occasional burst of boundaries in between the innings. He dearly hope uses a lighter bat. Not as light as Azhar's but considerably lighter than what he uses now.

the only phisical result of using the heavier bat was the back problem he encountered a number of years back. tennis elbow can be caused by a number of things, however a heavier bat would most likely not be one. with bats and tennis racquets its from either overgripping (due to a smaller grip) or undergripping (the grip being to large for the hands). the weight doesnt really impact on the elbow

yeah, and after all a quarter of indian supporters r negative and know they will be like " oh no, we r definitely going to lose if tendulkar doesn't play"!

God he is but someday even he will have to stop playing... so are we gonna lose every single match thereafter?

i dont think he will be personally be able to sit out too long...he should be playing at least by the second test...if not the first...

should never change weights of bat hes been successful so far with it. i say rest and youll be fine.
