sachin hasnt played an innings like laxman's 281 or dravid's 180 yet. i hope he does play a match winning innings like those one day..his most memorable century in tests was the 136 vs pakistan in chennai which india lost, his best ODI innings was against australia in sharjah..however he hasnt scored like dravid or laxman under pressure

Sachin has been close to making a match-winning innings before, in 97/98 Sachin made some centuries in the test series agiasnt the aussies and battered Warne all over the place them centuries was match-winning knocks, how about that 130 odd agaisnt pak in the asia test championship in 99, he was close to winning the game for India.

In odi he has made some match-winning knocks but it was years back agianst the Aussies and in Sharjah. Tendulkar was the one of got India to the world cup final in 03.

Lara struggled to score a run in the Super Series ! Does that make him a useless player ?

Lara played awful in the super odi series, but he is still a quality player and dangerous to any team.

I would'nt exactly rate tendulkar highly for taking india to the world cup final.

True he has'nt actually lead india out of pressure.
But there was this one innings against south africa wherein he got inot a partnership with Mohd Azharuddin.That was one good innings by the little master.

boy that was the greatest knock Azharuddin ever played(it was in capetown i think)..he murdered lance klusener after tea..klusener went for 88 off his 12 overs

And after tendulkar got out it was Azharuddin and Kumble.
Great knock that one.

ya and before that innings Azharuddin had played a similar knock in the Calcutta versus South Africa. he scored a century of 73 balls in that innings and kumble made 88 and india won the match.. actually Azharuddin has played more match winning knocks in tests than Tendulkar..

I pity Azhar.
A great captain for India...lead us in 3 world cups and has lead us quite well.
He had an outstanding record as a captain.
He was also one of the bets slip fielders and one of the world's best known players of spin bowling.I still remember his innings against a lankan attack comprising of murali,dharmasenaand chandada in sharjah.He pulled the match from virtually nowhere.
