Day 1 - Session 1:

Welcome to my new era of England. Captain Duckett leads a post Bazball England that measures test match batting with madness and strokeplay. So far Has went cheap, Duckett went ham and Root has looked sublime all the while Durham's new Big Ben is keeping it chill... for now.

Waste's Andy Flower looking glorious in the Kingston afternoon sun. I tried to upload the ZIMBABWE text for the 96 world cup kit but I couldn't get it working properly, would anyone be able to upload the .svg of the text that I have? Zimbabwe are the only main nation that don't have the 1996 world cup kit on the academy that I can see. I also have UAE, Netherlands and Kenya if anyone wants to upload those too to flesh out the entire tournament.

Running in this game is a bit annoying I had 4 run outs and 3 of them were what should have been easy 2s and 3s even with changing the individual stats to the lowest throwing strength they throw missiles.

Australia 2000s v South Africa 2000s ODI that's mostly filled with Waste's players, all looking fantastic. This particular game had me nostalgic for the early 2000s, the player and kit creations give me the perfect cricket game I wish we had back then feel. It was a fitting nail biter than Andrew Symonds got Australia home in the end with an all round performance

3rd Test Perth - Eng lead the series 1-0
Australia had managed 298 in their first innings, taking a little over a day to get there, and in doing so, it highlighted that application was key when batting. Pretty much the whole of the Australian top order made starts, with two men passing 50, but none would go on to make a meaningful score. England knew their task, they just had to do it…

England’s opening pair put on 54 before the first wicket fell, a boundary filled 37 from captain Andrew Strauss, eventually being trapped in front by the returning Mitchell Johnson.

Jonathan Trott was in at 3 and alongside Alistair Cook they provided England with the stability they were looking for, both passing 50.

Albeit a little slow going, the pair continued to build, taking the partnership past 150. Trott was now outscoring his partner and had reached the 90s, finding the mid wicket and square leg boundary at will. That was until at least, he reached 99. The Aussies had eventually learned their lesson and gave him nothing on the pads. Needing just one clearly got the best of the number 3 and he chased a a wide one. Edged, gone. Trott out for 99 bowled Hilfenhaus, caught Ponting.

The partnership falling just 5 shy of 200 but helping England into a commanding position. 249 for 2

Disappointing to see the Aussies fold at the WACA that's a place they should be winning at, maybe Johnson will rip through for another 6 for.

Waste has almost created everyone from the 1993 SCG test with 13 players by my count: 8 Aussies and 5 Windies. I hope that I can get Brian Lara out for a lot less than 277 in this match. I'm really annoyed that Keith Arthurton has somehow been designated as the wicketkeeper so a restart is on the cards but Haynes is out cheaply.

I have created a 16 team ODI league that will see each team play twice, one home and away, before 8 teams progress to the quarter final before a winner is decided . It is made up of the big international sides and a few associates. The bottom 2 teams will be relegated with 2 new associates coming up.

First game is an all African affair between Zimbabwe and Namibia in Harare. I flipped a coin and am playing as Namibia. Pitch wasn't doing much for us and Zimbabwe put up a good score accelerating towards the end.

Meanwhile we're finding it hard, Englebrecht was struggling to score and forces a single that wasn't there. Gibson was going well until he had to pick up some runs and was caught deep. Our two batters in now are our last hope. Hopefully we can make it respectable!

Keith Arthurton as the wicketkeeper annoyed me so I restarted the match and got the same toss result: West Indies electing to bat and they were bowled out 1 over after the tea break for 158 runs. Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh took Merv Hughes to the cleaners taking 28 off 2 overs towards the end. The Aussies will need to put up a decent lead in this innings because the pitch will be difficult to bat on come days 4 and 5.

Still been playing through my Great Australian Rebuild series, as we have now headed into the 2018 Summer with South Africa and India coming to our shores against a depleted Australia side.

These have been the results, and i've continued a much more indepth storyline here. But if you're not interested in the more story side, here is a summary of the games played!

Next is the 4 match test series against India starting in Adelaide, which means i get to bowl to this guy without Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood or Lyon...

Australia defeat West Indies by 6 wickets at the SCG. Poor batting from both teams with only one 50+ partnership in the entire match which was the 73 run stand between Mark Taylor and Steve Waugh for the second wicket of Australia's second innings.

David Boon took 9 catches at short leg in the match (4 in the first innings and 5 in the second) while Brian Lara took 6 catches in the slips (4 & 2). Greg Matthews took 4 wickets in the second innings and was on a hat trick twice

London Royals beat Sydney Smashers by 57 runs. Brook and Duckett smashed Sydney out of the game in the final overs. Sydney kept up for a while but didn't have the power hitting. Perhaps marquee signing Smith wasnt worth his high price

NSW 90s vs Rest of Australia 90s using Waste's latest creations. Dean Jones and Mark Taylor playing in their swansong matches, 2 first class matches in Sydney and Melbourne then 3 one day games in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

I really gotta get the hang of inkscape to get these old logos in to the game.

NSW finish day 1 at 5/192, pretty slow going throughout the day with the spinners keeping things tight in the middle period of the day. Michael Slater was looking in great touch until a Shane Warne wrong'un end his innings, Michael Clarke's introduction increased the run rate until the late wicket towards the end of the day slowed things down as Clarke and Emery sought to see out the day.

3rd Test Perth - Eng lead the series 1-0

A cut above the rest!
Alistair Cook repays the selector’s faith with an Ashes winning knock.

IMG_2938.jpeg

Cook battled hard and eventually got his reward, a career best 259. He was also involved in partnerships comprising of 54, 195, 130, 120 and 54. An effort that saw England take charge of the match.

With a lead of 280 runs going into the 2nd innings, England had scoreboard pressure and momentum on their side. Australia didn’t make it easy, with Shane Watson, Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey and Steve Smith all passing 50, but similar to the 1st innings, half centuries were not going to be enough.

Tremlett picked up 4 wickets second time around, meaning he finished with match figures of 9 for 176 another job well done by the selectors.

England were left needing 102 to win and to retain the Ashes, and it took them less than 25 overs to get there.

England lead 2-0 with 2 matches to play. The Ashes are safe, but can the Aussies bounce back and save the series?
