Should Sachin Leave After His 200th Test?

I think Tendulkar should use the opportunity of his 200th test in India to announce his retirement and not go on to tour SA.

What do you all think?

There comes a time in every sportsman?s career when their powers begin to fade. It is not easy giving up something you love dearly. Having to walk away from something you spent your life perfecting is difficult, and scarcely done readily. The natural inclination is to hang on, believing that it is all still there and that it is only a matter of time before the days of famine are replaced by days of plenty.

Should Sachin leave after WI tour?

Yes. I don't think there is an option now! It is quite clear why a 2 Test match series was put in thus curtailing the Indian tour to South Africa.

But you never know, Sachin might just come up and say he is enjoying his cricket, but tbh, he has hardly been playing cricket now.

I don't think there would be a better chance to hang up his boots and say good bye to his illustrious career in front of his home crowd!

I don't mind him going to SA with the team. But I wouldn't mind him hanging up his boots here in India after his 200th test. I though wish he goes to SA and tries to get a great series under his belt before calling it "a day".

He definitely knows when his body will give up on cricket. Only thing which I hope not to happen is - getting out in a rustic way and put himself under torture to quit! Being a champion boy himself, I just wish that all the scenes for his retirement have red carpets all around which is something he truely deserves while walking out.

Sachin Tendulkar should rather have a retirement like how Steve Waugh had and not like what Ricky Ponting had. Period.

I think same to what Sachin Tendulkar thinks.

I assume you mean that Ponting struggled towards the end of his career, but Steve Waugh definitely struggled towards the end as well. Difference was that at the end of their careers, Steve Waugh was in the greatest team of the era, Ponting was not. And Steve Waugh got a couple of cheap centuries vs Bangladesh in his last year to make it look like he was finishing strong.

Or perhaps you mean that Steve Waugh announced he would retire before his final summer began, while Ponting's announcement was last minute.

If I'm to be perfectly honest, I would have preferred he left after the Australian series. He really isn't up to it anymore and if he does go to South Africa he will probably get eaten alive by Steyn and co. India has so many good batsman waiting in the wings its just a shame that they haven't yet been given a chance. For India its a lose-lose situation really, take Sachin to SA he probably won't score any runs, but then whoever you pick instead just gets thrown in to the deep end facing the world best bowling attack in his first series. I think he should go after the WI series but my feeling is he won't based on his recent comments.

This.

my opinion is that sachin should continue his career

Funny! I think you are real hater of Sachin Tendulkar. He almost crossed 40 (I kow it's just a number) and contributing to Cricket since he was of 10, total 30 years of his life. Half life for cricket. Need some rest to do at the last years of life is the fact for everyone. But if someone has given his half life for physical things then that person need a lot of rest, not like mentally things. But still I think same to what Sachin Tendulkar thinks. If he thinks that he still want to play then I also think same and if he want to leave palying cricket then also I'm thinking same :)

I personally believe Sachin should have retired a couple years ago after the England fiasco but I know there was the hunt for that 100th 100, he's got that now. It pains me to say this but Tendulkar is no longer a truly world class batsman, not of the ilk he once was, his time to go is now.

I know he is only 2 test matches away from getting that 200 but what does 200 tests mean? Especially if it leads to a series defeat in South Africa because Tendulkar is under performing? It's a non-nonsensical milestone in all honesty and Sachin has secured his legacy due to his tremendous run scoring feats, not because of how many tests he has played.
