Any additional softwares used to make your desktop look fancier than it is will take up chunk of your system memory, and slow down your PC (obviously if you have more RAM, you are less likely to notice the difference). So in that case, your best shot would be to turn off all of those softwares, and go back to using the classic skin to improve performance - like me.
