SLIP FIELDERS - now they don't catch every edge

When putting together my CPU Test batting enhancement patch which I will post to Ste this week, I think I have stumbled across a way which means when you edge the ball to the slip area you are not automatically always caught.

When using the field editor, I changed all my field types for slip fielders from "slips" to "close in" properties.

Now if yesterday was anything to go by, a least three edges when through the slip cordon and one was even dropped :P

Not sure why changing the field type might make this difference (maybe it won't happen again I don't know), but
it has enhanced the gameplay for me.

zim did u get drop catches.... but i m not sure they will drop catches after making them close in..... how about making slip fielder's hands poor... i think this might work..... but one can say this will add more spice in to bowling n can make us more fraustating,,, :)

the fielder was at 4th slip gully position. The cpu edged the ball and Agnew said
"edged..........and dropped !!"

On the replay , the ball went high to the fielder, he stuck his hands up and dropped the catch. I couldn't believe it.

And yes, I made all the fielders hands poor in the game which hopefully may help a little bit.

good discovery zim... let me try this one also.. good thing :)

I am also wondering if the agility setting for a person has any bearing - I am going to change every players agility rating to poor and see if more edges get through.

marc,
that annoying bug has been in the game since the start. Its just naff programming in my opinion. :(

After changing agility ratings to poor for all players, I so far have had no edges go through the slips at all :(
However, I have only played halfway through one innings so I need to give it more time. Not that hopeful though really, but we shall see..............
