It's a complete waste of time, which is why I'm always using it. So no, it's not good, but I'm addicted to it anyway. It can be useful for a number of things, but I think it reflects the growing social trend of distance communication. We are slowly eliminating face to face contact, and even phone conversations.

Twitter is the dumbest IMO, I don't really care what people are doing, especially not famous people.

Exactly, you can no longer talk to anyone on the street/bus or in public because everyone is listening to ipods and walking like zombies in their own world.

Twitter is the very definition of narcissism

Many celebrities and known sports personalities have a FB and Twitter a/. that's one of the reason fans join this site to get in contact with them.

Btw just read Phillip Hughes recently faced flak for "Twittering" the news of his axing. CA then "reminded him of his duties"

Phillip Hughes didn't write that, his management did back in Australia. He isn't even in charge of his own twitter.

That's the case with almost all known people, but this kind of incidents ends up with reputation lost.

I think social networking is very important for the future as long as people learn how to use it correctly. As with any budding technology, you first have an explosion of users and then begin to put in privacy controls. Facebook back in the day when it was only open to college students was quite the phenomenon and helped you keep in touch with people who were far away from you without buying a calling card.

Now, though, we are at a crossroads in social networking where we need to make sure that we aren't sacrificing human contact. That does not mean we should shun social networking, but that we should integrate it into our lives. Social networking essentially allows you to find the people who will be most interesting to you and to communicate with them. It doesn't mean you stop using your common sense and run around looking for strangers.

One more positive about social networking is that its currently probably the most efficient form of news dispersion out there. Whereas you would have to actively read a paper or go to a news website to find out the headlines before, you can now rely on someone else reading that news and blogging/facebooking/tweeting about it. That's not bad, in my opinion, because it just means more information for everyone.

Twitter is used mostly by geeks to communicate. You will not get much of it even you try following them.
