There is a famous example, which like yourself, I cannot recall, whereby a former International was in a hospitality tent and stood in for the normal wicketkeeper, Cricinfo mention it every now and again when a certain question pops up.

It happened with England v New Zealand in the 80's, we used 4 keepers in one innings :laugh
 
Then poor Imran Farhat took a catch for nothing :(..
 
Exactly lol. I guess if they arn't credited for a game, they arn't going to get any catches.

Interesting about the wicket keeper thing.

At The Oval against Australia Arthur Jones became the first substitute to keep wicket in a Test, catching Warwick Armstrong off George Hirst. Jones's Test averages were nothing to write home about (13.85 with the bat, 44.33 with the ball) but he was better known as a fielder. Sensational in the slips, he was credited with inventing the gully position. He captained Derbyshire from 1900 until just before his death from tuberculosis in 1914.
