Oh dear Surrey! Didn't they lose to Ireland or one of the minor counties in the C&G Trophy last year as well?

Yeah lost to Ireland, but to be fair, Ireland did also beat the West Indies last year!

Ireland also beat Zimbabwe by 10 wickets recently (pre-rebel exodus I believe)
That's right, on the 2003 tour. The gap between the top associate members and the bottom test nations isn't as big as people might think.

I know it's no excuse, Surrey should be whipping such opposition, but it didn't help that 3 of their 5 bowlers couldn't bowl in the 2nd innings run chase due to various injuries. Taken from the report on their website...

"The total was always going to be hard for Surrey to defend due to three of their five strike bowlers succumbing to various injuries. Martin Bicknell suffered a reoccurrence of a hamstring problem, Salisbury damaged an intercostal muscle and Rikki Clarke rolled his ankle in one of the foot holes while bowling. All three were unable to take part in the rest of the match, forcing Ramprakash to call upon a number of part-time options-Scott Newman, Ali Brown and Richard Clinton.

The Surrey attack was in tatters and the two strike bowlers Surrey had left, Doshi and Murtagh, had to bear the brunt of the overs. Murtagh bowled 16.5 overs and could only manage 1-81, while Doshi took 3-119 from 26."

Are Bradford/Leeds UCCE just like a university team?

If so that is pretty sad!

The Surrey selectors should ask a few of them to come down to training, lol

Yes. UCCE stands for University Centre of Cricketing Excellence.

This is actually only the 2nd time a UCCE team has beaten a county side since the program started in 2001.

Ireland also beat Middlesex in 1997 I believe, a certain Hansie Cronje helping them, in the B&H trophy.
