Seeing as there is Player Discussion, I thought a "Team Discussion" thread could be created.

I'm playing as Australia in ICC09 and in Tests I'm doing fine but ODIs are a different story.

I'm constantly getting flogged by decent teams...

At the moment I've got:

Hughes - Good, reliable as an opener
Watson - Terrible, always edges behind or is out bowled/lbw
Ponting - Still good
Clarke - Good
North - Not very good, maybe looking to replace
M. Hussey - Has declined, not looking good
Haddin - Still good, should I open with him?
Johnson - Not too bad
Lee - Gets walloped with the new ball
Clark - Is not looking for good in ODIs anymore
Hauritz - Keeps the runs down

Players in red are ones who I think need replacing, but who???

What other Australians go well in ODIs?

I played a few ODIs with that team and never won.

In: Cam White Great batsmen with handy leg spin, Andrew Symonds Big Hitter, Adam Voges, Ben Hilfenhaus Economical Bowler, Callum Ferguson [/B]could develop[/B]

Out: Watson, Lee, Hussey, North, Clark

Hughes
Haddin
Ponting
Clarke
Symonds
White
Johnson
Ferguson
Voges
Hilfenhaus
Hauritz

Never tried this team but.....

matthew wade is the best idea if haddin ever gets injured or loses form, he averages 50 for me in tests.

siddle, hilfy and johnson are quite good bowlers for me too

So Siddle in then aye. Lee out most likely.

Has anyone ever had success with Watson before? Hes craptacular for me.

He averages 25 in one days with me, yet to score a century.

i would go with the batting lineup:

hughes
katitch
ponting
rogers
Jaques
M.Hussey (or Watson if you want an allrounder)
Haddin

Well I made it to the 2011 WC final but lost to the West Indies.

I can't stand using Rogers tbh, hate the ranger for leaving W.A the sook.

Just as a hint - ten years from the start of the game in my Bangladeshi save, Burt Cockley is #2 bowler in tests and #5 in ODIs.. averages about 22 in test matches and 24 in ODIs. He looks like a very good bowler in the future, might want to play him early if you are Australia.

Wow, thanks for the hint! I'll get him in asap.

Any other hints? :p

My apologies Hooper - I got his averages wrong. He is still the second best test bowler but his average is slightly bloated. I was looking at his current form when I saw an average of 24.

Most of the Aussies have been replaced by regens. Here are the stats of the existing Aussies.

Phillip Hughes
10901 Test runs @ 55.06, HS 253
7430 ODI runs @ 44.23, HS 183*

Luke Pomersbach
6469 Test runs @ 41.74, HS 181
3318 ODI runs @ 31.60, HS 101

Matthew Wade
3961 Test runs @ 28.7, HS 175
2114 ODI runs @ 24.58, HS 103

Peter Siddle
1852 Test runs @ 11.87, HS 59*
364 ODI runs @ 6.39, HS 31*
550 Test Wkts @ 24.79, Best 6/49
273 ODI Wkts @ 24.10, Best 6/42

Burt Cockley
319 Test runs @ 2.95, HS 17
62 ODI runs @ 3.26, HS 15
320 Test Wkts @ 27.67, Best 7/42
122 ODI Wkts @ 20.61, Best 6/11
20 T20I Wkts @ 14.25, Econ = 5.88

So he's not the best test bowler.. but a lethal ODI bowler.

Wow, Cockley is still god-like and very good seeing as Australia haven't got many good fast bowlers!

What about Clint McKay?

I thought Wade's average would be higher tbh and Pommers looks decent, might give him a crack.

Is Callum Ferguson any good?
