Story Team India's 2011 Season. The Indians fail to get the lead....

what the earth do Dhoni send Virat Kohli to open? but unfortunately India won the game by a wicket. Tendulkar played nice role with Sehwag, but he was playing at number 6 for the first time. lol!

Dutchmen added 2 Minutes and 4 Seconds later...

but the current situation is better than the situation before a week or two. Thats why you feel like this

that is why I said I don't think so. :facepalm

The batting order was completely shuffled in that inning.
Virat Kohli was sent out as Sehwag tends to get careless and India didn't wish to lose wicket on the 4th day. Unfortunately, they lost Kohli as well as the night-watchman, Ojha. :p

Anyway, Kohli is out of the team for the second test and you can see that in the previous update. ;)

Opening in test match is always tougher than to open in ODIs. Gambling here with Kohli is really as shocking as Sachin's real life tactics with MI in CL2010 :p Anyways, inclusion of ravi in WI won't be much effective I believe. His bowling shouldn't disturb the legendary batting line up of ours. :)

That's the mantra I have been following and it has fetched me some good results.

Anyway, I loved your statement which compared Dhoni's virtual tactics with those of Sachin's in Champions League. :p

Well I don't really follow this one but as I have read the last few updates, the presentation is superb.:thumbs

Chris Gayle powered the West Indian inning

After winning the toss, Chris Gayle came out confident with his opening partner, Omar Phillips. For India, Zaheer Khan begun the proceedings along with Praveen Kumar. It was a slow start for the Windies, quite unusual when Gayle's there at the crease.

The spinning duo had a bad start but were crucial in restricting West Indies to a score less than 300. The Gayle-Phillips could add just 47 runs to the total, before Phillips was trapped by the spinner, Pragyan Ojha.

Then came in Shivnarine Chanderpaul to join Gayle. Both of them brought the West Indian inning back on track with some promising shots and matured approach. The pair managed to put up a century stand, filled with shots all round the park. Gayle and Chanderpaul, both had gone passed the 50 run mark. Unfortunately for the West Indians, Chanderpaul threw his wicket by giving a catch to Gautam Gambhir at long on off Praveen Kumar.

Ramnaresh Sarwan joined Gayle, but before making an impact, walked back to the pavilion. The West Indian inning suddenly begun looking in trouble. Harbhajan Singh picked up his first wicket of the match.

Next to come in for the centurion of the previous match, Narsingh Deonarine. The pair of Gayle-Deonarine was looking good as they both put up a good show. It was then that Praveen Kumar was brought back into the attack by MS Dhoni. The bowling change paid off as Kumar managed to find the edge from Gayle's willow which went straight into the safe hands of VVS Laxman. Chris Gayle finally departed and missed out on a century.

Ryan Hinds came out in the middle and wanted to make an impact here, after being dismissed for a first ball duck in the previous match. Once again, Windies suffered two quick blows. This time, it was Deonarine who departed on 30. Denesh Ramdin was the next to come in but he too got out cheaply. With just 1 run next to his name, Ramdin walked back to the pavilion.

Darren Sammy joined Hinds. Finally, the Windies got the pair they were looking for. Sammy and Hinds once again brought back life to the West Indian inning. Both scored runs at quick pace, and reached the half centuries. Looked like it was the day of the nervous 90s and Ryan Hinds too had to go back at a score in the nineties. Hinds was dismissed bowled by Ojha and just like Gayle, was unfortunate to reach the three figures.

Soon after Hind's dismissal, Darren Sammy got out. He played a superb knock of 81, comprising of 11 boundaries. No batsmen from the tail could contribute much to the total, though Nikita Miller played his part, scoring 19 runs.

The West Indians finally finished at a total of 411 for 10 after 135.1 overs. Zaheer Khan was the pick of the bowlers, taking four West Indian wickets. Kumar, Ojha and Harbhajan picked up 2 wickets each as the part-timers, Raina and Sehwag went wicket-less.

My guess would be Dravid :) But the bowling looked ordinary though.

It wasn't that bad. Zaheer, Kumar and Ojha looked good.
Bhajji disappointed us, but he is a kind of character who can bounce back at anytime. :)

Darren Sammy celebrates the wicket of Gambhir

Team India trailed by 411 runs as the Indian openers, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag came out at the center. Both started their inning the way they usually do. Gambhir looked strong in his defense and looked to stay at pitch as long as he could, while Sehwag rocketed with a couple of sixes and a few 4s. Darren Sammy looked superb with the new ball. He managed to sent back Sehwag for a score of just 36 as India lost the first wicket.

Next to come in was the wall, Rahul Dravid. He did not look in good touch during the first test and the same was the story here as departed just for 8 runs, again being caught by the wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin of Sammy.

After a good start, suddenly the Indians were on the back-foot. Though Dravid spent a good amount of time at the crease, but the runs weren't flowing the way the should have. Sachin Tendulkar joined the settled Gambhir. But this time, it was Gambhir who fell to Sammy's class. Sammy trapped him at the middle stump as the umpire raised his finger. Gambhir departed on 34, leaving team India in big trouble. Darren Sammy was pumped up!

Suresh Raina joined Tendulkar, with the aim of not only helping out India to put a respectable total, but also to cement his place in the Indian XI. Understanding the situation, both the batsmen played sensibly, defending most of the deliveries and attack the bad ones. The pair managed get the Indians back on track with healthy partnership amongst them. Sachin reached his fifty, followed by Raina. Sadly, Sachin was given caught behind off a delivery which was miles away from his willow! The master fell to bad decisions again and had to walk back with a score of 61 next to his name. Jerome Taylor got his first wicket of the match.

VVS Laxman joined Raina and one would have expected the pair to put on a good show. Unfortunately, both these batsmen had to walk back within a span of 2 overs, as Raina got stumped by Ramdin off Nikita Miller and Laxman gave a simple catch to Ryan Hinds off Darren Sammy.

The two batsmen out at the crease were the Indian skipper, MS Dhoni and the turbanator, Harbhajan Singh. Dhoni looked good as usual, starting off slow and building up a big inning out of it. Harbhajan supported Dhoni very well, as the pair managed to put a partnership of more than 50 runs. Later Harbhajan had to depart, adjudged LBW off the part-timer, Omar Phillips.

Dhoni continued his good strokes, accompanied by Praveen Kumar on the other end. The skipper soon reached his 50 and once again played a captain's knock. The part-timer Phillips once again did the job for the Windies as he dismissed Dhoni on 78.

The next two batsmen from the tail, Pragyan Ojha and Zaheer Khan couldn't do much with the bat. The Indians managed to score 396 for the loss of 10 wickets.

For West Indies, every bowler picked up at least one wicket, with the star being Darren Sammy, who ran through the Indian batting line-up and destroyed the top order.

West Indies lead by 65 runs

Sachin is not having luck with umpire decisions even in the games :mad India need to trigger a typical WestIndian collapse, otherwise it's gone.

Ow! missed an upgrade.... anyhow what happened to Gayle and Hinds? they'd probably the tough chances to get a century, but they were quite nervous while Sammy played a fabulous innings in reply, India were hug bug, but captain Dhoni, Tendulkar and Rania played extremely well.
