Yes zMario. You win. Inzamam > Tendulkar. Are we done here now?

Well, with the brilliant stats I showed you of how Sachin hasn't and can't win a Man of the Match since 1998...

Oh wait, he can do it against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

Anyway, so much for India's "match-winner" which I tore apart :)

Well if i am not mistaken, Sachin won the match for India in 4th ODI vs Pakistan in 2007... in the series, he got a 99 too in 2nd ODI and of course we all know about the CB series

This thread is ONLY for test match cricket.

My stats would therefore not include ODIs.

On the first page, it was clarified by Manee this thread is being used for test cricket only (as far as their comparisions are concerned - that is why I did not respond to the ODI innings Shravi mentioned :))

Why do all innings have to be match winning? Inzamam has been backed up with far better bowling attacks in the past so it's much easier for him to win matches. India on the other hand haven't had the best of attacks with wich to back Tendulkar up.

Obviously you're a Pakistan fan so you're siding with Inzamam. We can all see it so there's no shame in admitting your bias. It's blatant for all of us to see here because Tendulkar will go down in history as one of the best of all time and certainly better than Inzamam. Fair enough if you think he's better than Tendulkar. That's up to you. But the fact that you are so determined to prove just how much better Inzi is shows an underlying element of you yourself knowing that Tendulkar is the better player. Your patriotism is getting in the way of rational judgement.

Now just give it a break. If you think he's better fine, but there's no need to go ranting about it because most people won't agree with it.

Yeah I guess zMario has got his stats wrong.
Can you please read? I have told everyone now various number of times, this comparision is only for test cricket, as was clarified by manee.

Therefore, my stats ARE correct, and do not include ODIs.

Sachin is YET to get a man of the match award in Test Match Cricket since 1998.

And between 1989 and 1998 he has only got TWO man of the match awards.

Two man of the match awards only in a legendary batsman's career? Hmm...

Your objective is to PLAY FOR YOUR TEAM.

Not hog up the strike and limit the number of runs your team scores.

If you play for your stats when you play cricket, thats just sad. The objective is to help your team win, not look good.

Also, regarding India's bowling attack - Javagal Srinath, Anil Kumble (4th highest wicket taker?), Zaheer Khan, India's phaaast bowler Ishant Sharma?

Alright, fair enough, he hasn't had the best, but he has been in SO MANY situtations where he could have taken the game from the opposition, but got out (or saved a game). There's just SO MANY.

Do you judge a player on the basis of the no. of MOM awards he has won or the no. of times he led his country to a win.

11,877 (This figure is not touched so easily)

I love how you've just responded to my post with something that has nothing to do with what I just said.

It's about who's the best batsman, not who's the best team player.

I'd rather have a player who helped my team win (as I'm sure you would) rather than a player who plays for his own stats or chokes when the pressure is up.

I responded about how you felt that I thought each innings should be match-winning.

That should be the FOCUS - while it may not happen everytime, it happens for Legends :)

I just love how you can't read my post, then look back at what you wrote, and go "oh."

You edited your post after i'd posted. Don't blame me for your original short sightedness.

zMario you yourself know that Tendulkar is far better than Inzaman. But I still dont know why are you fighting like hell with eveyone.

Ok lets take that YOU think Inamam is better than Tendulkar.Be happy & enjoy life.If you get time just have a look at the poll results at top of the page. You will come to know who is better.

According to the poll 1:5 people think that Inzy is better.Thats sums up the whole lot for you.Be happy with it.

The man of the match adjudication is actually very good, and I think it should be used more often.

The commentators (or whoever selects it) watched the match, and knows whether a batsman came out on top whenever put under pressure. This is probably a better reflection than the stats as far as pressure is concerned, because unfortunately the stats don't show how many times Sachin has choked.

But its convincing enough - only 2 Man of the Matchs in his career, none since 1998.

Actually I thought I'd be more clear :p

A poll on Cricinfo showed that Harsha Bhogle is the best and most unbiased commentator.

Yet we all know thats not true, its just the number of people who were from India ;)

And prehaps some people here and there decided to vote for Bhogle for whatever reason.

But I have a question - why won't you respond to the BIG statistic I have just pointed out, and respectfully debate the point with me.

After all, thats what forums are for.

I think I will admit Sachin did choke a bit under pressure, probably more than Inzy did. But that still does NOT mean he wasn't the better batsman. Because he was. (I think the entire team choked at that time)

You do not judge players on the basis of stupid stats like average and MoMs when his team has won. Infact you bring in a lot of different stats to show in a particular player's favour.

But I think anyone (Indian or not) who has watched cricket for a decent amount of time and a respectable IQ would know that Sachin was easily a better player (tests, ODIs, everything) than Inzamam.
