The Blue Screen Of Death Thread

Heh, i recently downloaded, i mean bought that game. Have yet to play it though or install any patches.

Kind of addicted to pro evolution 6 at the moment. :cheers

On a side note, long time no see JK. :p

LOL !! what makes you think i did !! ;)

yeah....been really long.....any good games you'd recommend which
are worth my HDD ?? :p :D

On my old XP computer, I used to get the BSOD quite a lot, but I have never had one with Vista yet :).
BSODs are bloody annoying though, just so random.

thats good news !! i thought vista was more buggier :p.........
is it worth installing though ?? as i've always been skeptical
about vista......!!

They can be, it's windows shutting down to try and prevent any serious damage to the pc. It can either be the fault of a driver, or a piece of hardware on your pc. Either way, if your getting these messages I'd be worried.

Well, as I said it was only happening with Richard Burns Rally and no other game. I've been running without EAX for a while now, so far, so good, no more BSOD. But if it shows again, I might have to shelve that game (even though it's the best damn rally sim around).

It used to happen on a regular basis with my old gfx card (6600GT), but it stopped when I updated the drivers.

Well with my old comp towards the end of it's life they only way it ever worked was if I hit with a hammer and then shook it for a bit. I couldn't however touch the screen at the back as it used to always give me an electric shock. Ahhh happy memories. Used to play Fifa '98 on that comp

Well it was your sound drivers eax causing the problem by the looks of things, so either disable eax (like you have done) or just update your sound card drivers.

I've been using Vista for a year or so now, and have never seen one.

This guy hasn't seen one either ;)

MiniDump 0223088 - Probably caused by : klif.sys ( klif+12d00 )

Thats Kaspersky i believe. Try disabling it while alt tabbing in and out of cricket 2005. Or try a different anti virus/firewall.

MiniDump -030808

Probably caused by : afd.sys

Not too sure about this one, this is a windows winsock file.

Also do start, run, sfc /scannow with your XP cd in the drive

AFD.sys is part of the Winsock system, so it may help to repair Winsock entirely. You can do that here

I'm getting a BSOD a few times a day since I installed a New graphics card, AND Ashes Cricket on the same day. Mini dump attached.

Edit:I have now found the answer, it was the 2nd beta patch that caused the BSOD.
