Ponting and Ryder drive Sydney to victory in pre season friendly

Sydney Scorpions were to play Brisbane Badasses in the first friendly of the season. It was a nice pitch with some help for both batsman and bowlers. Ricky Ponting won the toss and elected to bowl first. Strauss and Hughes put on a good opening partnership before Strauss went to the bowling of Siddle and Hughes didn't go much later, trapped in front by Ajmal for 38. Rogers only made 10 and Brisbane were 3 down after 15 over's. Haddin's 82* kept Brisbane alive and took them to 257 from their fifty over's, Siddle taking 3/28 from 10 over's. Warner didn't make many though and Katich made a start but couldn't go on. Trott went early and it was 71/3. Ryder and Ponting batted well though and by the time, the breakthrough came, the damage was already done, Ryder gone for 74 off 65 balls. Ponting was finally dismissed for 90, bowled by Anderson. Sydney cruised to victory from there, Ronchi finishing on 22* and passing the target with a six with 6.5 over's to spare. Anderson was pick of the bowlers with 2/50 from his 10 over's. A good start for Sydney and they will want to continue their form with some more wins once the season starts.

Great job dude... removing the concept of owners...
And I;d have like it if you'd have given an update how the draft took place...
That might have been an interesting thing.

If I had started it like that, I would have but the teams had already been named so there was not much point. I'm just playing a few friendlies as well while I'm putting in all the teams. I have done 10/14 teams now.

Jaques Hit With Injury

Melbourne Masters' opening batsman, Phil Jaques has been hit with an arm injury which will rule him out for at least the first 3 rounds and might come back for Melbourne's Round 4 clash against Adelaide. He suffered the injury during training where he took a blow to the arm from quick bowler, Nathan Bracken.

There are no other serious injuries but Mumbai's Virender Sehwag and Perth's Travis Birt have suffered minor injuries which will keep them out for any pre-season friendlies but both should be ready to play in their Round 1 matches.

Like I said, I have removed all owners and am just turning this into a story. I also said that owners could have a refund of the 30,000 if they wanted.

Ok then. I'm sorry that this didn't go on as a league but I had to stop it since most owners were inactive and it was annoying me having to wait for everyone to do something.

Delhi beat Perth on a belter of a pitch

Teams:

Delhi Devils: Sachin Tendulkar*, Rohit Sharma, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Shikhar Dhawan, Luke Wright, Yogesh Takawale (wk), Nuwan Kulasekara, Zaheer Khan, Murali Kartik, S Sreesanth

Perth Predators: Michael Clarke*, Tim Paine, AB De Villiers (wk), Callum Ferguson, Shakib Al Hasan, Daniel Marsh, Grant Elliott, Brett Dorey, Clint McKay, Ajantha Mendis, Shaun Tait

It was a very flat pitch for the match between Delhi and Perth and there was bound to be some big scores. Clarke won the toss and elected to bowl first which was a big mistake as Delhi got off to a flyer scoring 128 runs off the first 15 over's, captain Tendulkar leading the way. Tendulkar was dismissed in the 16th over though, to the bowling of McKay for 76 off 46 balls. Sarwan got off to a good start hitting his first two balls for boundaries. Sarwan and Sharma managed to put on a 71 run partnership before Al Hasan struck again with the wicket of Rohit Sharma for 77 off 83 balls. Al Hasan seemed to be taking crucial wickets as he took the wicket of Sarwan for 62 at a run a ball in his 9th over. Chanderpaul was dismissed in the last over, bowled by Tait for 61 and Delhi finished with 357/4 from their fifty over's, Dhawan playing a great innings of 63* off 45 balls with 3 sixes. Al Hasan was pick of the bowlers with his 3 wickets. Perth went out there but batted slowly only going at around 5 an over with Paine batting slowly. Clarke scored 52 off 44 balls before being dismissed by Kulasekara. Paine batted too slowly and he finally got out for 63 off 101 balls and it was out of reach by then, requiring over 10 an over for the last 17 over's. AB De Villiers tried to get closer playing aggressively but he finally got out for 84 off 72 balls. They put on a good partnership at the end, Al Hasan and Ferguson but it was nowhere near enough, Perth falling 30 runs short of their target. That partnership between Hasan and Ferguson was 108* off 69 balls, a good effort. Callum Ferguson finished with 77* off 57 balls with 3 sixes while Al Hasan finished with 41* off 30 balls. Khan and Sreesanth were the economical bowlers, going at less than 5 an over. Tendulkar was given man of the match for his good knock at the top of the innings. Perth have really got to work on their bowling.
