Good Afternoon Everyone and the warmest welcome to Cape Town, South Africa for the 1st match of this ODI series between Royal Ramblers and Counter Warriors. The pitch has some grass on it and it'll assist the bowlers. The sun is out but the weather is cool. The players will definitely enjoy playing in such conditions.
Both the captains are at the middle for the toss. The Counter Warriors captain calls for it but doesn't get it right. The Royal Ramblers captain Viral elected to bat first.
The Royal Ramblers have gone back to thier most experienced opening pair in the form of ansariaamir_leo and Karachi Xpress. Much will be expected from these two. Both of them started off well and played some equisite strokes all around the park. Ansariaamir_leo played the aggressor whereas Karachi Xpress was happy nudging the ball around and hitting the bad balls for boundaries. Together they put on 68 runs for the opening partnership. They were looking strong until iloveireland got ansariaamir_leo. In came Viral. Karachi Xpress and Viral were starting to look good when iloveireland struck again and got the wicket of Karachi Xpress. The Royal Ramblers were already 2 down when in the very next over, Viral was dismissed. The Royal Ramblers were in trouble at 95/3. Ursonly11, Shubhrayu and Appu made some useful contributions but no one can go on to get a big score. Handy contribution in parts by every batsmen took the Royal Ramblers to 217 for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of 50 overs.
The Counter Warriors were expecting their openers to deliver a good opening partnership and they didn't disappoint. Ashwin and Paulnixon1 started off cautiously. The required rate was just over 4 so it was no issue to get the runs in a jiffy. They were looking good and had already added 62 runs when finally Vickyrox provided the much needed breakthrough for the Royal Ramblers. He got the wicket of Paulnixon1. Ashwin and Tarzan continued batting well but the partnership didn't last long as Vickyrox struck again and this time it was Ashwin to depart. At this stage of the game, it was looking all even stevens but then Tarzan and Ledzep made the difference. They played very well and added 108 runs for the 3rd wicket. Ledzep was looking comfortable in defending and nudging the ball in the gaps whereas Tarzan took the charge to the Royal Ramblers bowlers. The dew factor came into the game with a cool climate and made the life difficult for the Royal Ramblers bolwers. They were finding it difficult to grip the ball. Cricketplayer55 produced peach of a delivery fooling Ledzep and Ansariaamir_leo made no mistake in catching him. A much needed breakthrough for the Royal Ramblers but still the Counter Warriors are in good state at 183/3. As the time went on it was getting harder for the Royal Ramblers with the dew adding more effect into play. The ball was coming nicely on the bat. Tarzan played brilliantly and went on to reach his half century. He was going strong until a ferocious yorker by Scion Sid missed his bat and hit him on the pads. He was caught plumb. A brilliant innings of 88 runs by Tarzan came to an end. He has laid the platform for his team and the other players made no mistake in fetching the victory. With the dew troubling the Royal Ramblers, it was no trouble for the Counter Warriors to chase the target with ease.
Counter Warriors won the first ODI by 6 wickets.
For his brilliant performance with the bat, Tarzan was awarded "Man of the Match".
