Lankans had a achievable target to chase on. Dilshan and Sangakara opened for them and played sensible game. They were able to keep hold of wickets but were not able to move the score faster. They were just on the line till 20 overs. Run rate was rising and they were just saving the wickets , God knows for what. After 35 overs they had a RR of ~ 8 to chase on. And that was the time when openers decided to leave the ground. Guddu was able to pick up both wickets. But now Lankans had the danger man on crease. Sanath Jayasuriya . But he was also not able to create any magic. They just gave up in front of Lions bowling squad.
Lions won the match and kept the CCPC pride. Guddu was declared MOM
That is all for today guys, cya soon till then take care , Play safe ;-)
Hello and welcome all to the ever beautiful Eden Gardens cricket stadium for this amazing CCPC contest between the Wolvies and India. The weather is neither too hot, nor too cold; absolutely perfect for cricket. As for the pitch, it's a placid batting wicket and we can expect some mammoth totals to be posted out here. But that being said, it might just be helpful to the bowlers if they can bowl consistently at accurate line and lengths. Enough talking already, let's get straight down to the field now, where the two skippers are ready to toss the coin.
The Wolvy captain has chosen to bat first after winning the toss. Correct decision from all angles. The Indian bowlers have a tough job ahead, as I see it. They need to bowl extremely well here, as the pitch would hardly favour them.
A pretty decent total posted there by the Wolvies. Aamir and Ursy were awesome as always, and gave their team a pretty solid start. But I guess the other batters failed to keep the momentum going after their respective dismissals. The middle order suffered sort of a mini collapse, and if not for that, the Wolverines would have reached the 300 mark for sure. Then again, towards the end, two quickfire knocks by Tuaha and Khalek recovered the lost momentum, and gave the Wolvy innings a much needed push. Binnu too deserves special mention here, as his fabulous 32, comprising of 5 boundaries and 2 huge sixes, was one of those innings which held the team together after the Wolvy openers went back to the pavillion. Of the Indian bowlers, Yusuf Pathan, who removed Aamir, Rahul, and Tuaha, was the most successful in terms of wickets. Bhajji Singh, and Zaheer Khan too were quite effective. But the other bowlers paid the price of being inaccurate in their line and lengths, and were hammered for quite a few runs.
So folks, it has been an even contest so far. The Wolvy batsmen, and the Indian bowlers; both did a great job. My predictions about the pitch have turned out to be wrong, as the pitch is favouring the spinners quite a bit. Accurate and proper fast bowling is also being rewarded. Well, the total looks to be pretty chasable, but nothing can be said with certainty yet, as the Wolvies have some world-class bowlers who can turn the match anytime. Who will laugh the last laugh then? We'll find out, stay tuned. Next update coming tonight.
Hello all, we're back and let's get straight down to the field where the Indian batsmen are all set to face the Wolvy bowlers....
What a fantastic game of cricket we've just had! Each and every player of both the teams played their hearts out, and the match was super-exciting till the very end. But eventually, thanks to some amazing bowling by Xuz, Sid, Binnu and the rest, it was the Wolvies who emerged as the winners. And though the Indians tried pretty hard, they failed to keep the momentum going in the middle overs, which turned out to be the chief reason for their defeat. Of the Wolvy bowlers, special mention may be made of Tuaha, Sid and Xuz, who kept their nerves cool in the death overs and steered the team to a fabulous victory. Keep up the good work, Wolverines!
So, the Wolvies have won again, and this time the victory came against a giant of world cricket, India. No wonder the Wolvy dressing room is frantic with joy! In the presentation ceremony, Tuaha was deservingly declared the Man of the Match. His first MoM award ever- he must be a happy happy lad!
Oh well, my work is done here. Bye bye folks and see ya soon!
