My Royal Journey will continue, this will end up by tomorrow or day after tomorrow. Its a short one.
After the recent crisis in Japan due to continual earth quakes, resulting in tsunamis, the ICC has decided to provide helping hands, for which it immediately called a T20 match between the World Champions of the both ODi format and T20i format at the recently renovated Whankhede Stadium located in Mumbai. Both the BCCI and ECB have given positive response and BCCI has decided to pause Indian Premier League for a day, so that the match at Whankhede becomes the highlight. Many national and international cricketing bodies have decided to donate huge amounts of money. Players and domestic boards who were wishing to donate were to hand over their donations to their respective home nation boards.
Soon after this, there were loads of donations from many cricketing bodies. It was interesting to see the IPL franchisees donate big amounts to BCCI. Many State Associations have handed over their money to their respective national board, where Cricket Victoria and Cricket Association of Bengal got in headlines, each donating 100,000$, highest by all the domestic associations (excluding IPL). IPL body handed over whopping amount of 3 Million US $ to BCCI, the money all the franchisee owners, sponsors donated. Overall, it ended up BCCI donating 5 Million US $ representing the Indian Cricket [includes donations from State Associations & their sponsors, IPL body and their own donation], Cricket Australia donating 3 Million US $, Cricket New Zealand & Cricket South Africa donating 1 Million US $ each, Cricket Ireland, Cricket Scotland and Netherlands Cricket donating 900,000 US $ each, Sri Lanka Cricket donating 800,000, Bangladesh Cricket Board West Indies Cricket Board & Pakistan Cricket Board donating 500,000 US $ each. ICC donated 5 Million US $ totaling 20 Millions US $, just from Cricketing Bodies & their sponsors.
The match tickets ranged from र5,000 to र1,000,000. All the bollywood actors had no excuses for missing this match, as they set a strict rule which states that they have to attend the match by purchasing the ticket. There were no complimentary passes given to anyone. The general public had very few tickets to buy and people queued up in kilometers as soon as the tickets were put to sale. K'Naan and the Young Artists, who composed a song for Haiti quake, have confirmed their performance on the match day on the same song, Wavin' Flag- Young Artists version. A.R.Rehman, Asad Khan and Siva Mani will be performing on the match day. Linkin Park music band will perform Bleed it out in the Innings break, Shanker-Ehsan and Loy will perform after they do. Enrique Iglesias has confirmed his availability too, just as a spectator. Almost all the cricket players will be in Whankhede. Many football icons including Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney will turn out to be spectators. All the IPL franchisees will be there at the Whankhede at the time of match.
BCCI and ECB have asked their skippers to pick their playing XI. Dhoni has picked up Sachin Tendulkar, who surprisingly confirmed that he'll play this particular match, even though this being a T20 one because its not India, which wins, it the Cricket, which has to win. Flintoff will be endorsing his Three Lions shirt after a long time, as their T20 skipper Paul Collingwood picked him up.
