Bristol, Ireland and Scotland all possible new Venues for Greene King Hundred
After the late withdrawal of the group owning the rights to the Oval venue, the ECB have opened bidding for the new team rights, and this may lead to a change in scenery for the new franchise
There are 3 front runners for the rights right now. First, Chelsea FC, who are willing to keep the team based in the Oval, but want to incorporate their brand identity by calling them the
Lions. Secondly, a consortium lead by Eldon Insurance, who want to bring the team to Bristol Country Ground, with the identity of
Swashbucklers. Finally, and perhaps most interestingly, a joint bid of Cricket Ireland and Cricket Scotland which shall see the team being named the
Celtic Warriors and share home games between The Village, Malahide and The Grange, Edinburgh. All current league owners will vote on which team to admit in the coming weeks. Some are calling it a progressive move from the ECB, that could see the league expand north of the border and west of the Irish Sea, although others are more cynical, saying it’s a last minute attempt at a save of face after the preferred deal fell through, with some going as far as saying it’s a poorly contrived storyline from Tekkogs Steve after someone pulled out of his league.
I’ve put a poll on this thread to see what team we will admit into the league. I will make all the teams desicions but their matches will still be simmed by the AI.
