As I get a offer from two teams on the opposite sides of the world, I look at what they are paying me for each week and bonus. I thought for 5 hours in my apartment and I had to only choose one. I couldn?t as I wanted both offers, Copenhagen for a challenge and Hobart because of my local team. So here is my journey in two different comps.

Chapter 1: Deals for both teams
Deals have been coming thick and fast for both teams as the pitches are getting ready for the season.

Copenhagen has got two overseas players in the squad with Shoaib Malik and Brad Haddin joining the squad in the league. Shoaib Malik was the easy grab of the 2 as only one wanted to go for him. Brad Haddin was the exact same as he would of love for more money in his contract. For Matt121 it was nervous as the time clicked down until it hit 0 and Brad was his.

Shoaib Malik and Brad Haddin have signed to Copenhagen

Xavier Doherty will be staying in his home state of Tasmania after signing a 3 year deal with the Hobart Heroes. There were 3 other deals for the spinner but he wanted to stay with his home state as will be going with Peter Forrest which he signed up yesterday.

Xavier Doherty said:
It is good being in my home state and going to any other team wouldn't feel right, plus I have been in the state team for 10 years.

Only spinner in Tasmania signs for the only tassie team in the league

Chapter 2: Focus now on Hobart
As the end of the drafts come in Europe, the main focus for Matt121 is his Hobart Heroes team as no drama so far.

Copenhagen have found their last player to finalise their squad for Season 1 with Jerome Taylor being signed up for $67,000. It was a easy buy for the Vikings as their venue will be announced tomorrow.

Last player for the Vikings being Jerome Taylor

Hobart as been buying and signing contracts with the biggest signing being the New Zealand keeper of Brendon McCullum. It was tough though as other teams were going for him but it was enough money for Heroes to take the keeper. The other 3 players joining the squad are Lendl Simmons, Tom Triffit and Mitchell Marsh

Interesting pick in the APL this round. Hobart have had a history of struggling in the APL, maybe you can turn things around.

Hey I want to stay as local as I can, plus me with other states is like picking a Melbourne Cup winner.

Chapter 3: Deals go so fast
As it you can see, deals have been signed and delivered as quick as the naked eye with drama to pick who will suit in the squad.

The manager as been in a mayhem sort of way. The first signing was Australia T20 batsman Luke Pomersbach for $100,000 which was a cheap buy from the state of Western Australia. Brendan Drew was the buy for a low $50k and it was easy to take the local with no drama for the team.

The international was tougher as the Heroes took Steven Finn and Lonwabo Tsotsobe for $500K and $350K respectively. As they were looking to balance the squad the 2 were up for the taking but they didn?t have their own way with the new teams also looking for the players. But in the end they saved on the money for the Heroes getting the players.

In Copenhagen the venue for where Copenhagen will be playing at home in the group stage was announced with the venue being Kjobenhavn Boldklub with the pitch type being poor

Chapter 4: New venue or not
Could there be a new venue for the Hobart Heroes as Glenorchy Cricket Club have said they would like to have a match over at KGV Oval. Even though it isn't a good cricket ground for Australia standards.

KGV Oval is an AFL ground during winter but could it be a cricket ground for the summer.

Even though there is only an 2,000 difference in crowd numbers, it hasn't ever hold an cricket match which featured the Tasmania Tigers or Roar. With the fixtures being annouced tomorrow then there will be some drama.

It's a possibility, the APL is always looking for ways to expand. We did have a round over in the US in previous seasons too.

Chapter 5: Fixtures announced :)
As the teams are getting set for the season, the fixtures have been announced for Season 13 and Season 1 of APL and EuPL.

The Hobart Heroes season will start the season at home for the first 2 games against the Perth Heat and the Brisbane Bandits before heading off to Cairns where the total eclipse was held earlier today. The rumours of a match at KGV Oval is officially true with a Round 9 match against the Sunshine Coast Kings in a triple home match between Round 9-11 in Tasmania. There other home match will be against the Canberra Dragons.

Hobart Heroes Season 13 Fixture
Round 1: vs. Perth Heat (Bellerive Oval) - Hobart Heroes won by 3 wickets (with 22 balls remaining)
Round 2: vs. Brisbane Bandits (Bellerive Oval) - Hobart Heroes won by 4 wickets (with 34 balls remaining)
Round 3: vs. Cairns Demons (Cazaly?s Stadium)
Round 4: vs. Newcastle Knights (Bellerive Oval)
Round 5: vs. Canberra Dragons (Bellerive Oval)
Round 6: vs. Wollongong Sharks (North Dalton Park)
Round 7: vs. Darwin Dukes (Marrara Cricket Ground)
Round 8: vs. Sydney Stallions (Sydney Cricket Ground)
Round 9: vs. Sunshine Coast Kings (KGV Oval)
Round 10: vs. Geelong Eagles (Bellerive Oval)
Round 11: vs. Melbourne Mayhem (Bellerive Oval)
Round 12: vs. Gold Coast Crusaders (Carrara Stadium)
Round 13: vs. Adelaide Lions (Adelaide Oval)

The fixtures have also been announced for the Europa Cup with the important one being the 2 groups of 5. This would have to come at a bad time for the Vikings as they got smashed in their warm up match by 200+ runs. Copenhagen will be hoping to have a good result but anything can happen.

Copenhagen Vikings Season 1 Fixture
Round 1: vs. Hague Harriers (Hague) - Hague Harriers won by 131 runs
Round 2: Bye
Round 3: vs. Continental United (Copenhagen)
Round 4: vs. Malahide Mavericks (Malahide)
Round 5: vs. Highland Barbarians (Copenhagen)
