Proposed Internationals:
Under-22:
Tim Southee
Kane Williamson
Retired Player:
Chris Cairns (Astle/Bond/Fleming?)
Under 40ODI/20Tests:
Jesse Ryder
Martin Guptill
Styris/Oram/Franklin/Mills/Watling/McCullum
Others:
Daniel Vettori
Brendon McCullum
Ross Taylor
Would like to hear Callum's thoughts before I post final internationals.
Styris, Oram, and Franklin have all played over 40ODI/20Tests, so therefore we can't get them. Mills has only played 19 tests, but he has played heaps of ODI's so we can't get him either. I don't think we need Watling with plenty of other batsmen, and we already have Vettori and McCullum in terms of bowling.
Out of everyone except our retired player and under 40/20 (Tim, Kane, Ryder, Gup, Dan, Baz, and Taylor) thats 1 WK, and 4 top order players, 1 middle order player, and 1 bowler.
Therefore we need another two bowlers/ARs, so either Cairns or Bond as our retired player and maybe like Grant Elliot as our under 40/20 player. Therefore if you go for Elliot we would probably need another bowler, so in that case Bond.
Hence I would maybe go:
Under-22:
Tim Southee (Bwl)
Kane Williamson (Bat AR)
Retired Player:
Shane Bond (Bwl)
Under 40ODI/20Tests:
Jesse Ryder (Bat AR)
Martin Guptill (Bat)
Grant Elliott (Bat AR)
Others:
Daniel Vettori (spin AR)
Brendon McCullum (wk)
Ross Taylor (Bat)
I'm not sure as that may be a bit too much batting orientated, with six mainly batting players. It's up to you, those are just my thoughts. Just remember to mot get too many batsmen, and maybe take a look at what player's we already have first.
