HEy fellas
I thought i'd start this thread to see if anyone can (or wants) to solve the riddle of seam and win the approval of Crom!
What i really want to know is whether there are more big files that cover such things as seam frequency and pitch characteristics. However, before u start saying it's in the 2bb7....... big file i should let u know that the pitch condition and seam parameters that are located in that big file have little to no effect on seam frequency in the game. I have recently played a one day match on a green pitch with tutsi's AI patch and i found that even though i could beat the batsman with seam, they still scored at a good rate and did not make the match too easy by losing wickets too often.
There just isn't enough playing and missing by the cpu batsmen (apart from the cut shot).
So, is there anyone who knows if there is a parameter that determines the frequency of seam, one that can be edited to make the ball seam anywhere from 0% to 100% on any pitch? For me this would add to the interest of the bowling side of the game (as well as the batting i guess). I have conducted an experiment on seam movement on all pitches for a variety of values in the cfg's of the 2bb7....big file. The results showed that there is no relationship between this value and the frequency of seam movement. On any other pitch than green it wouldn't seam at all. I used values from 0.00 (control) to 999.999. Surely there must be a parameter somewhere that dictates the frequency of movement on all pitches and discloses any restrictions placed on non-green pitches that could be tweaked according to the player's desired end.
Cheers
