So especially made this thread to share the trick towards square cutting the ball on the front foot more often than not.

Firstly after being set at the crease or also at the start of your innings either on (career mode or generally)

So it goes like this when ever the bowler (Fast/Medium Fast/Part timer : Seamer ala. Paul Collingwood) The every first ball of a new spell will be short ball(95% of the time) wearing a red marker is always bowled on the middle stump does not matter if the right handed bowler is coming over or around the wicket it is short. From there you can play the all elusive square cut on the front foot either with the L2 bumper or with out it.

For mine the square cut along with the pull shot is the statement to the opposition captain as well as to the bowler.

How about this...if the ball is on or outside of and you time it right you can usually square cut it. Even short balls pitched on middle can be square cut if you time it right.

I thought somebody had shared tips on how to play square cut :facepalm

It's a very satisfying shot to play. Most short deliveries from fast or medium-pace bowlers on the off side can be square cut on the back foot. However, I only got the game two days ago and am still playing at amateur level. When timed properly it's an almost guaranteed four, which is why I fookin bother.

I want someone to tell me the secret of @ethybubs satisfying square cut... does that work? Not really... I dunno. I got nothing today. [HASHTAG]#BackToDBCOnline[/HASHTAG]

The secret to the square cut is to make sure there's no-one fielding anywhere near point.

Square cut? Don't fookin bother.

was there really a need to bump a thread from four months ago just to add this?

I'm fine with old thread bumps if you're adding something interested to them: or if they've become relevant again for some reason (I'm sure there's a match fixing thread in the Cricket Discussion subforum that dates from the Pakistan-England fiasco a few years back that gets bumped every time someone admits to spot fixing) but please don't jump old threads with something that really doesn't say a whole lot. I'd generally say that in bumping an old thread you'd want to add something comparable to the OP of a new thread, but that's just me.

Since we seem to be having discussion though, I'll keep it open for now.

no worries: I don't expect people posting in a first page thread to inspect the dates of previous posts before they post

I still play this shot but not as much as I did before the patch. There's something quite satisfying about getting a massive edge whilst playing this shot and seeing the ball fly over the slips though :D
