TPCL management has major announcements regarding the fourth edition of PlanetCricket's premier fantasy league!
TOURNAMENTS
As we all know, we've had TPCL being contested in First-Class and List A formats since the inaugural season, while the T20 tournament came into existence in Season 2.
Needless to say, the fourth edition of The PlanetCricket League will feature all three formats previously played in the league!
Our First Class tournament will be known by the name of Brian Lara Shield; and it will be simulated by @NILAYSHAH60
The List A tournament will be known as PlanetCricket's World Series or simply, World Series; it will be simulated by @Na Maloom Afraad
And the Twenty20 tournament will be known as Super Smash! T20; and it will be simulated by @Manish.
FORMATS
It was decided by TPCL management that each tournament will have a different playoff/knockout format to add some spice and flavor to the league.
Brian Lara Shield by @NILAYSHAH60 will be a double round-robin league culminating in a one-off final between the top-two teams at an iconic neutral venue.
World Series by @Na Maloom Afraad will be a double round-robin league culminating in a "Best of 3" finals series between the top-two teams.
Super Smash! T20 by @Manish. will be a double round-robin league culminating in a page playoff between the top-three teams!
Besides the official league fixtures; each team will play a preseason game in each format against Invitational XIs arranged by TPCL management.
If you have any queries regarding player ratings; have a look at this post.

AVAILABLE PITCHES
FLAT - A batsman-friendly pitch which provides little or no assistance to bowlers. Expect big totals.
NORMAL - Provides an evenly balanced contest for all disciplines.
DRY - Plenty of turn on offer for spinners and a good place to bat for spin-savvy batsmen. Good pace bowlers are still likely to thrive.
DUSTY - Ideal for slow and spin bowlers as the name suggests. Sometimes quite difficult to bat on.
GREEN - A lot of movement on offer, making it ideal for bowlers capable of swinging the ball. Batting expected to become easier as the match progresses

With every single league prelude out of the way; we are ready for the commencement of The PlanetCricket League 4... with The World Series' preseason beginning tomorrow!
In the meantime, TPCL Management would like to elaborate on the Activity Upgrades for the season to all four franchises.
ACTIVITY UPGRADES
- For the first time in the league's history, we will have TWO Activity Upgrades. One at the half-season mark; and the other post-season (before playoffs/knockouts).
- This was a decision taken to increase activity between users post-midseason; which hasn't been the case traditionally, as well as to make up for the lack of format specialists.
- Each format's activity will be entirely separate from the other two - a player can potentially obtain activity upgrades for one format, and miss out on the rest.
WORLD SERIES & SUPER SMASH! T20
- Each member will need to post on average2 messages per match-thread for both formats - that amounts to a minimum of 6 posts across 3 games.
- However, You can not dump 6 posts in one thread and move on; you need 1 post for each game thread (at least) to be eligible for an activity upgrade.
BRIAN LARA SHIELD
- Each member will need to post on average4 messages per match-thread for Brian Lara Shield - that amounts to a minimum of 12 posts across 3 games.
- However, You can not dump 12 posts in one thread and move on; you need 1 post for each game thread (at least) to be eligible for an activity upgrade.
- Given the nature of the Brian Lara Shield; each Test will last up to 5 days in real time since each day will be posted separately.
- You will have five days (potentially) to get your one message in; but you will still require a total of 12 posts across 3 games for an activity upgrade.
- An additional pot of 43M vCash is being announced for The PlanetCricket League 4.
- Across tournaments; all recipients will receive 1M vCash for winning the Player of The Match award (every game).
DEDICATED SUB-FORUMS
- As per the suggestion of our senior member @WutUpMahGlipGlops; each tournament is going to have a dedicated sub-forum for match threads. Effective immediately.
As we approach the mid-season break; we presume it is the best time to let every team know that the cut-off time for posting messages is until 48-hours after the last official post is made in the Round 3 matches of Super Smash! Twenty20.
Every member of your team has enough time to get all their messages in until 48 hours have passed since the end of Round 3 games of the Super Smash! Twenty20.
And as a friendly reminder, much like every other season, team owners are required to submit activity upgrades on their own. We will only cross-check and approve them.
Unfortunately, our First-class simmer @NILAYSHAH60 has fallen sick with an undisclosed illness. I've been talking to a family member of his on and off about it, and thankfully they've ensured that he's doing much better now and will hopefully fully recover in a couple of weeks.
That being said, this silly internet cricket league is the last thing we should be prioritizing over his health. As TPCL Management, and a member of the forum I wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back fully fit.
Until then, the First-class league is being put on-hold while the other two formats will continue as planned, starting from Thursday.
Once again, apologies for the hold-up but the man's health is far more important than this league.
As you may already be aware, a few days ago we lost @NILAYSHAH60 - a devoted member of the forums and our first-class simmer. We, as management, decided it would be in poor taste to continue the league after such a tragic event. The league, as amazing as it may be, is obviously not as important as the life of our friend.
So, we've decided to discontinue the league and award the titles to the table-toppers of each format. All vCash prizes will be transferred to team owners ASAP.
The league should be the last thing on anyone's mind at the moment. As a community we wish nothing but love, support, strength, warmth and patience to Nilay's family. _/\_
Prize Money for all three tournaments has been transferred to respective owners. The Boys have been awarded trophies for winning the World Series and Brian Lara Shield.
Titans have been awarded the trophies for winning Super Smash! T20. Congratulations to @Disharies as well on winning Player of the Tournament.
@SMMODS is being announced as the Player of the Tournament for the World Series for scoring 313 runs @ an average of 62.60 - the most by any batter.
Unfortunately, the statistics for the BLS are incomplete hence the PoTM award for that is being nullified.
All fantasy and sportsbook events will be looked after shortly.
