I have changed it to a new stream. Whoever has the best arguement wins!!
ARGUEMENT ONE:
Geological records are reasonably 'hard'. There are also cycles that we know semi-deductively.
Cycles of the sun are known in virtue of cosmological laws and astronomical data, as are cycles concerning the earth's electro-magnetic field, plus ocean and atmospheric cycles (e.g. carbon and ozone cycles).
Global warming is a scare because goverments are paying huge amounts of money for electricity to be available and if you look at some maps at night it would show how populated America is in terms of light.
Soon the earth will be nice and cool, one country that is concerned about it is Australia in terms of the drought and ive learnt that theres heaps of water in Americas but once the clouds get to Australia they have no water left.
I think we should all get smarter with the way we use elecriticty though to prevent fires and huge elecricity bills.
England isnt as concerned as Australia considering that England is cold and needs a bit of light.
Overall science can be wrong and science can be right but this time they're wrong.
ARGUEMENT TWO:
With all the talk about rising earth temperature due to Global Warming the airs temp has been raising a tiny fracture each year, it as doing so before the earth was every populated by humans. The polar ice caps may melt, but that could be blamed on the earth temperature itself rather then global warming.
All the experts only have theories they cannot prove that there is in fact a problem with global warming. Could it be that we have found a new way to scare ourselves? Yes we need to cut down on population but we do not need people trying to predict the future.
Afterall people believed the world was going to end on Jan 1st 2000, but did it? No, nothing happened, it was just a way for Microsoft to sell programs and away scare people into believing there was some sort of threat.
Let’s be real here, Ozone is a greenhouse gas, it traps heat that would otherwise radiate into space. If the ozone layer is DECREASING, then why do people say the temperature is rising? Ozone traps heat
Experts are also proclaiming that the world will be suffering worse hurricanes, and tornadoes, as well as more deadly storms due to the affects of global warming, but can you prove that this is the case? You can’t.
I mean, we all believe smoking causes lung cancer, yet people who never smoke and never been near smokers have died from lung cancer, you see? You say the risks are there but that doesn’t mean it’s fact.
To make it fact you need proof, evidence and you need to prove that this is what will happen, draughts and storms have been around before there was even a concept known as global warming.
Storms were getting worse before the concept of global warming, basically we cannot prove all the claims that these experts wish to dish out because they can be wrong. The world has pollution but if we are going to fix it we don’t need to make something up to put the fear of god into someone.
Let’s just say that there is a chance of global warming but we cannot be sure, we have a theory that something may happen in 20 years to cause the world to change but we cannot say that it will happen. We cannot say that there will be more draughts, we cannot say that the world will be in danger in 20 years because we are just guessing,
ARGUEMENT THREE:
Global Warming has been the center of discussion in many international forums for long
time. The reason it is most discussed phenomenon in itself shows that how serious the
problem really is.
Let me first diffrentiate between climate and weather. Most of people tend to consider them
same but actually they are very diffrent. Weather is the condition of atmosphere at a
particular place and time. Climate on the other hand is the averae pattern of weather in a
place. For Example Mediterranean Climate which has moderate temparature throughout the year
and rainfall and humidity are tyically low.
Weather changes all the time. The average pattern of weather, called climate, usually stays
pretty much the same for centuries if it is left to itself. However, the earth is not being
left alone. People are taking actions that can change the earth and its climate in
significant ways. The single human activity that is most likely to have a large impact on
the climate is the burning of "fossil fuels" such as coal, oil and gas. Other factors are
also there but not as significant as burning of "fossil fuels". These are deforestation,
rice paddies, cattle, coal mines, gas pipelines, landfills, fertilizers and other chemicals.
People have been burning these fuels for 2 centuries now. These fuels contains carbon and
burning them produces CO2. For 2 centuries now the amount of CO2 in earths atmosphere has
increased 30% and the global tempratures have risen by 2 degrees. If this pattern continues
not all of places in world will be warmer but most will be. This will cause changes in the
amount and pattern of rain and snow, in the length of growing seasons, in the frequency and
severity of storms, and in sea level. Farms, forests, and plants and animals in the natural
environment, will all be affected.
The impact of the above changes will be felt mostly by less developed nations beacuse they depend more on climate. Most developed nations will develop new ways to protect temselves from these effects but underworld countries can not do that. The rise in temprature means melting of polar ice caps which will result in raising of water levels and most of low lying areas like Bangladesh will drown completely.
Climate may change faster than plants can move from one region to another. This may cause species extinction, lower biodiversity, and changes in the way species interact. Slightly warmer tropical water may kill the algae which reef animals use for food. Climate change can affect the number and kinds of pests directly. It can also affect them by changing the mix of plant varieties and their nutrient content. This can influence plant survival, food chains, and the spread of disease. Mangrove swamps are important breeding grounds for many animals that live in water. Increased ocean flooding may damage these areas by changing the supply of nutrients and the amount of salt.
What should be done:
Improve energy efficiency: More efficient cars, appliances, and industrial systems use less energy, which means that less fuel is burned and less carbon dioxide is emitted.
Develop and use energy sources that emit little or no carbon dioxide like Hydro power, solar power and windmills.
Improve forest and agricultural management practices.
New varieties of crops can be developed to grow in changed climates.
