Good start to this story mate. Looking forward to watching this twenty20 tournament. Keep it up

The sun shone down over Lord's,where the gentle sound of bat on ball and gentle applause is the norm here. But today and over the next fortnight, its sixes galore, loud crowds, dancing girls, and the odd last ball thriller.
The opening game of the tournament is England v The Netherlands,a one sided game on paper, although anything can happen in T20 cricket.
The toss was won by Paul Collingwood, and on a hard surface, chose to bat first.Luke Wright and Ravi Bopara are the openers for England, who showed in the warm up games that they can bat well together at the top.

The opening bowler was Schiferli. The opening over didn't go plan for Holland.2 wides and a 6 from Bopara got England 12 off the over.Esmeijer was the other bowler,a spinner.Bopara square drived one for 4,but Esmeijer had the last laugh,Ravi missing a sweep shot, and the umpire gives him out LBW for 13.Rob Key was the number 3 batsman, the surprise inclusion ahead of Macheranhas because of the injured Peitersen. But he looked good, and he and Wright nothed up a 50 run partnership, the outfield look lightning as they didn't play a single attacking shot.
Key did then play an attacking shot and got 4,but the next ball he tried it again, and only succeeded in lobbing a gentle catch to van Noortwijk,Key gone for 26.England reached 71-2 after 10 overs, some what slow seeing as they were going at 10 RPO after 5 overs, but then in 3 of the next 5 overs, they scored just 2 runs.
Shah's stay at the crease wasn't long,a hint of movement and he was out LBW for 1.Collingwood square cut one for 4 for his first boundary, but then he came down the wicket, and square drived the ball straight to the fielder on the rope.He didn't have to move and inch and Collingwood was out for 8,England in trouble at 96-4.
A six and a four got Luke Wright to his first International T20 50.England looked better, the last 5 overs they hit 53.
Wrights great innings finally came to an end, another LBW off Van Bunge and he was heading back to the pavilion after doing his job,66 off 61 balls. It got worse for England as Foster called for a silly single, sent Morgan back, and Eoin was runout at the non-strikers end for 13.
Into the final over, and it was Rashid who got the applause, slog sweeping one for 4,11 off the over, but England set a below par score of 152-6.Spin did it for The Netherlands, very economical from their 3 spinners,so how would Rashid go with his leg spin. The Netherlands need 7.65 RPO,difficult for them, but who knows with Kloppenberg opening the batting...

England Innings 152-6(20 overs)

L.Wright 66
R.Key 26
R.Bopara 13

B.Zuiderent 2-33 (4)
J.Esmeijer 1-21 (4)
D.Van Bunge 1-13 (2)

nice job mate i loved the video and it adds to the story. Will definitely be following this one! :D

Lovely sweet start to the story.. Lets see whether dutch men fights back as in real life :) :hpraise

Very nice video there mate, really told the story of the innings. Quality band to choose also. England should win this, I can't imagine the Netherlands will be that great on Cricket04.

Nice start mate :)

Where did you get all the downloads from for cricket 2004?

It should be in download center and in download threads. Yes, some links have expired but some links are still alive. :) I was able to download many of the patches though but i did not try for kits, bats and faces ( I am still in domestic level cricket, so is not needed for now ).

@ timmy94/Trev :-

Also out of curiosity, Which AI is better in C04? I tried Sam's one but it's too tough. Hence I am trying to find an alternative between Tutsi, Boss and Sam's. What do you use or prefer?

I will just go check my current AI that I use for C04...

I have both Tutsi's (v8) and Boss's (CGPv5) in my 'Data' folder. I believe I could be using Tutsi's, not sure though. They are both good. Hope that helps Suren :)

Despite being creators of Twenty20,England seem to struggle most of the time against the top teams. But with just one top team in their group, they should get into the super eights at the expense of Holland. However, with the Dutch keeping England back to a below par score, could they cause one of the biggest upsets in recent history?

It was Kloppenberg and Schiferli who had the job of getting Netherlands off to a good start. Not always easy against the home nation with their improving pace bowlers.First over bowled by Sidebottom.Six,four, four!Second over bowled by Anderson.Four,four,four!27 runs coming off the first 2 overs.Unbelievable batting. The next over was better from Sidebottom,4 coming from it and Kloppenberg lobbing one in the air but landing safe.
Anderson however, got the breakthrough.Delivering a leg stump yorker that looked like it may miss the stumps, and Kloppenberg was on his way for 24 off 13 balls.Anderson delivered a good first ball to van Noortwijk but was then hit for 4.He wasn't there much longer as Broad removed him with his first ball of the match.A few balls later and Zuiderent was gone too for 1.Schiferli was continuing on before Wright removed him for a run a ball 21.De Leede also went to Wright who was having a great day, leaving Holland 62-5.
After 10 overs,Netherlands were 72-5,one run ahead and needing 81 off the last 10 overs.Van Bunge was Broad's 3rd victim,gone for 7.
Then,Van Troost took center stage. He hit four, six, six off Rashid, who then responded with 3 more dot balls. He then hit even more boundaries and took Holland to 115-6 off 15 overs, needing 38 to win at 7.6 RPO.
They took 9 runs off the 16th over by Rashid thanks to a four from Van Troost. In the 17th over,Collingwood took the wickets of Scholte and Esmeijer in consecutive balls to get England back into the game. This over produced just 1 run.18th over and new man Smits smacks 2 fours off Broad,12 runs coming off the over and Holland required 16 off 12 balls.Van Troost tried to continue in his attacking way,but he was caught on the boundary off Anderson,a superb innings of 49 off 31 balls has given The Netherlands real hope. The final batsmen Raja sneaks a single to get Smits on strike, who hits a four, but fails to get a single to keep himself onstrike for the final over.Holland need 11 and Collingwood will bowl.First ball is hit straight back to Collingwood, not risking the run and being run out.The second was a bouncer which hit Raja in the ribs, and once again was collect by Collingwood.Raja was beginning to feel the pressure.A yorker was delivered, and to everyone's amazement they saw the ball going high and fast towards the boundary, then the ball seemed to hold up and it was going straight towards Broad, who's taken two catches and three wickets. He steadied himself and took the catch to stop Holland completing a memorable win.Holland fell just 10 runs short.

Netherlands Innings 142 all out (19.3 overs)

Van Troost 49
Kloppenberg 24
Schiferli 21

P.Collingwood 3-11(3.3)
S.Broad 3-26(4)
L.Wright 2-11(2)

Almost,but not quite

So,the end of the first match.England still look a bit shaky in T20's,but look like they have found an opener in Luke Wright, who's looked good since the warm up games.Broad and Collingwood did well with the ball,Key started well but Rashid and Sidebottom had a difficult day with the ball,Rashid went at 8 RPO and Sidey 11!
Holland could well cause an upset against Pakistan, who are lacking form, and The Netherlands batting is looking good.
Be sure to check in for updates and tonights games, and join us for England v Pakistan on Sunday;)
