WBBL (Discussions Thread)

The WBBL has quietly been really entertaining this year, most games have had at least one really high scoring innings - even the PER-HOB and ADE-STA blowouts

Would have been better if Hobart could actually win a game!

I really like the look of the Associate rookie rule, it's so important especially in women's cricket where there aren't as many lower level T20 leagues that the better Associate players can make a living off, as happens in men's cricket.

The players signed using this rule (so far?):
Kathryn Bryce (Hobart Hurricanes)
Ni Made Putri Suwandewi (Perth Scorchers)
Tara Norris (Melbourne Renegades)
Sarah Bryce (Sydney Sixers)

T20i legend Gus McKeon's sister, Ines, is opening for Scorchers. Surely the first French international (and Australian under 19) to play top level cricket?

T20 King Benny Howell was born in France but never played for them.

Yeah, surprised to see she'd switched allegiance. Or rather, the surprising part is that Australia would seek her out to put her on their pathway, must be a serious player

Based on an interview with her, and Australian accent, I'm assuming it's more Tim David than Kim Garth situation. She and her brother probably have French ancestry and they've had the chance to play international cricket that way. I think she'd be eligible for France until she plays for the full Australian team.

nah, U19 matches hold just as much weight.

There was a situation last year where Madison Landsman played for the Netherlands but was later deemed invalid because she had played for South Africa U19s at the inaugural U19 T20WC the year before

That could be the case. I was just thinking of Logan van Beek. I'm sure he'd played NZ A in between Netherlands matches. Could be under-19s carry a greater weight than A team matches.
