Also doesn't India blame Pakistan for everything bad that happens in its country?
We are talking cricket. This thread is about cricket boards. You read the title of the thread, didn't you?
WICB- Lack of funding and lack of good domestic competition. WI always have the top youth teams but they get lost in between the Under 19 team and the first team because of the poor domestic system. This isn't one country, these are all independent countries that do with their money as they wish. Its not India or Australia where the BCCI and CA oversee everything and also if you were to combine all the countries that fall under the WI and took their finances they wouldn't even come close to the money that some of these major countries get. While money is going to fliping Hong Kong and other weak ass countries the WI are being left behind like they never offered anything to cricket. This is the team that carried cricket for 20 years, when BCCI were trying to fill their stadiums they called on the WI to come and play and if you look at the country that India faced the most back in the day it was the WI, and now that the WI arent as good they barely play against them and barely offer support, ungrateful. Last time the 2 teams played tests was in 2006, pathetic if you ask me. Then some former players who now hold posts in the boards of these countries have the balls to criticize the current WI team.
Even with all the problems the WI have had for god knows how many years they have still showcased some great talent and some great players and still play the most entertaining cricket and are lowed by people all over the cricket world.
WICB has loads of problems. I agree with every word written above.
Sometimes I can't believe this is the same champion country of the 70s. Things change for the good and bad. But in case of Windies, its changed for the worst.
There is a highpoint which I like to think about for the Windies. It was the 2004 Champions Trophy Final, where Ian Bradshaw and Courtney Browne won the Trophy, when no one in the world expected them to. And another surreal moment for Windies cricket would be the 1st Test of the Wisden Trophy vs England, where Sulieman Benn and Jerome Taylor reduced the Windies fans to tears with their emotional performance and thrilling
innings victory over England in Feb, 2009
The process of putting things on the right track is slow and sometimes annoyingly long. But WICB gets their act together, works at the grassroots, handles the players well and gets a bit more proactive, the Windies will be the No.1 team again.
Mark this post and bump it when that happens. Coz its been a long time coming.
