Hey guys....i am think of buying a laptop for school work(high school) and for gaming. I dont know which one of the processors to buy
A) Centrino 1.8 ghz
B) Pentium 4 3.06 ghz
C) AMD 64 around 2.2 ghz

All the three laptops have 100gb hardrive.....the centrino and P4 have 512mb ram and the AMD has 1024MB ram. They all also have ATI Radeon 9700 128mb dedicated.

Would Appreciate your opinion....

B or C, depending on how much money you have and how serious a gamer you are.

A costs $1599 with 17" screen
B costs $1699 with 17'' screen
c costs $1599 with 15.4" screen
And i play almost all types of sports games and other games like Civilization 4 and Age of Empires 3

Go with C. I'll make a suggestion here. Dont buy the Radeon your planning on getting. It will soon be unable to run all games. F.E.A.R recommends a 256mb one. I have 128mb and it will soon be useless. So get a pc for the long term, motherboard with a good set of ram support. Check these 2 sites. Newegg only ships to the U.S which is a bummer, unless u have a skybox or know someone who lives there.

Can you get any 256Mb cards for laptops?

Even if you can, they won't come cheap.

yeh 256mb graphics cards wud b expensive

ya 256mb cards would be expensive so i think i will go with 128mb for now....but i am still confused Pentium or AMD64?

AMD 64 is the way of the future. When Vista comes around you will be able to take full advantage of the 64 bit.

The 256 mb are quite expensive indeed. Before I give you anymore advise can you tell me exactly which AMD you're getting. Cause different processor use different sockets. And AMD is planning on using...[uh i cant remember] sockets in the near future. If you want the computer in the long term just tell me the type of AMD you're getting and I'll find the socket type. I'm taking a guess here that you're getting the Mobile Athlon 64. Give me a lil more information. Like if it is 3700+ or whatever. If it is the AMD Mobile Athlon 64 3700+ ClawHammer 800MHz FSB Socket 754 definitely get that. Just tell me which you're getting. I'll advise you as much as possible.

Going by the graphics card I would go with the Compaq R4125 AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz Laptop. I myself have a laptop but the graphics card can't run high tech games. I suspect that maybe a problem with the Toshiba Satellite P30-RV2 Intel Pentium 4 532 HT 3.06GHz Laptop (P30-RV2) one.
