Well this might be the last test series for dravid if he fails to perform. Even if he performs, he would retire after two or maybe three years. Thus selectors would have to look for the future. Someone from the ODI team has to fill his shoes. The number three position is a very important position. Batsman should have correct technique as oftenly he would have to come in first half hour of the match. I cant see yuvraj being promoted up the order to fill Dravid's shoes as he is susceptible to new ball early on and he is a better finisher. so here are few candidates :

Rohit Sharma:
The guy play like test even in ODI and ironically gets out playing a rash shot. He seems to have a very good technique but not a very sound mind.:D

Suresh Raina:
This guy has immense talent. Wisden rated him as the Next tendulkar and in recent years he has started to perform exceptionally. Has a very nice technique and beautiful array of shots. I am a Yuvi fan but i rate Raina over him due to Raina's nice compact technique and plays spin better than yuvraj. Earlier i was curious bout Raina's hitting ability but after IPL he had developed those hooks, pull over mid wicket and slog sweeps which were pure delight to watch.

Virat Kohli:
Heard a lot bout this guy but never saw him playing a lot.

Cheteshwar Pujara:
3 Triple tons in a single season and two in consecutive matches, what else can you ask for?

Pujara from the options. But what about Badrinath?

I think Cheteshwar Pujara will replace Dravid. Cheteshwar Pujara is most run in season and match winner.

Cheteshwar Pujara

I wish Dravid finds his international form in this tour. I want him to go out on a high. No matter what, HE IS A LEGEND!

60+ for Dravid so far. Yay!

I don't think a player in the Dravid mould will replace him, but if we were looking for one then Badri. But I've heard a lot about Pujara...

Bdrinath for me.Next comes Pujara.
Would not be surprised if Raina comes in.But it'll take some time for him to adjust to Tests.
EDIT:I would prefer Dravid more than anybody as long as he in touch like what he showed today.Unfortunate to be not able to carry on the hardwork he had put in to be in that position.

Why dude..??

Ok I do agree that Sharma is not consistant, But the same situation was even for some of the major players of our team (I don't want to say their names. If i say their names, thier fans bash on me..)

If I would be given chance, I would opt some other than all these people...

I would opt someone like Virat Kohli, S.Goswami...

as Kohli got a name of junior Dravid in OD format, he may come up as junior Dravid in test matches even..??

binnurox added 1 Minutes and 27 Seconds later...

The reason Why I suggested Kohli because I Lively saw Dravid Batting and Kohli bating. I could see major similarities between them..

I think that the reason why Rohit has been left for so long in the ODI team is because he is being groomed to replace Dravid or Sachin (whichever goes 1st). He is getting experience playing at the international level and by the time one of the 2 legends goes he should be ready to take over.

Not that I agree with it because I see some really talented young batsman in Indian First Class cricket.

Right now, no-one. (Leave Dravid alone, guys, he is one of the greatest no 3 batsmen of all-time, two/three bad games are nothing, the more you give him pressure the more will he falter, let him play his natural game) After he retires, Chet Pujara. If Chet fails, then Subh Badrinath.

He's made 66 and 136 in 2 of his last 3 innings, why on earth you're considering dropping him is beyond me. Especially for Rohit Sharma who's got nothing on Dravid. Badrinath should be his replacement when Dravid retires, but it seems that the Indian selectors don't believe he exists, and it seems he'll end his career as yet another Indian domestic player with a fantastic record, who's failed to make it at international level. Harsh on the guy, he does have a superb record!
