Why Are All Opening Batsmen Left Handed

They are born that way.

Mostly sides like to have 1 left handed openor to break bowlers rhythm. They will promote any lefty batsmen if they dont have any decent left handed opeing batter.

I guess because the advantage of the opening bowler is negated with the swing going in instead of away where it is much more difficult to judge

Apparently left-handed people have quicker reactions too. There make up a disproportionate percentage of professional cricketers.

Yes i agree with griffo. It is mainly because it is quite difficult for the opening bowlers to adjust to the left handers than next drop they face a completely different type, obviously a right hander. So it is mainly to mix it up a bit.

hahaha, well if left handed peopel have better reactions
im quids in...thanks for views so far but sometimes (lager&hayden) and (hayden and Jacques) sides have two leftie openers

Do you have any right handed openor. Even rogers was lefty.

People say that lefties are harder to bowl to, but it really isn't too hard, i seem to bowl to lefties pretty accurately. Probably due to my angle of approach. Lefties are certainly regular occurances at the top of the order though, Hayden, Ganguly, Jaques, Strauss, Cook, Hussey (used to be an opener), Smith, Gayle, Jayasuriya, Tharanga, Vandort, most international test sides have a leftie opening.

It is true, every team ecxept India have RH/LH or LH/LH batting combination, the reason I can only think of is to upset the bowlers line and lentgh with the new ball with LH/RH batting combination.

But I really don't know why they have 2 LH's....

I believe left handed batsmen are more difficult to bowl to than right handers. When I try to bowl to them, I bowl too wide. It gives the batting team an advantage at the start of the innings in my opinion.

It's just a matter of coincidence. There's no actual reason why most left-handers in international cricket are openers or why most openers in international cricket at left-handed.
