Following the recent test loss the West Indies suffered at the hands of England, attention has been cast towards the long standing omissions of key players from the West Indies roster. With the treatment of cricketers including Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Jerome Taylor being brought back to light following the rant by former pace-man Michael Holding, one has to ask, why?

Former Captains Gayle and Sarwan have not turned out for the West Indies for nearly a year, with coach Ottis Gibson turning a blind eye to their excellent records in making outings for domestic teams. Particular Gayle, who took the Indian Premier League by storm this year for the Bangalore Royal Challengers, recently helping them demolish Delhi with an imperious unbeaten ton.

He has been renowned for seeing it like balloon out there, taking home the accolades of the Orange Cap along with scoring the most ‘Super Sixes’ in the fifth edition of undoubtedly the most exhilarating Twenty20 tournament in the world. Sarwan, meanwhile, has impressed in his outings for in the County Championship for Leicestershire, churning out two centuries and two fifties for the side he says he is now happy at, and that the “county stint has helped him gain back his confidence, but would not turn down Leicestershire for the moment. “? News had emerged that Sarwan would not be looking to leave Leicestershire any time soon, mainly due the comments Gibson had reportedly directed towards him, which had “hurt him mentally”. As a result, he has made it clear that he would not be walking out on his current team any soon, and that he owes them at least a full season because they had invested and put faith in him.

As for fast bowler Jerome Taylor, he has not been picked for the West Indies since his last match in June 2010 against South Africa. He was ruled out of the World Cup by the West Indies Cricket board due to a back injury and apparently had not been contacted about it since. He has unfortunately been forced to miss the whole of the 2011-2012 season.

The justification for these omissions are still not clear, Chris Gayle’s inclusion in the Windies side is still on hold due to standing apparent ‘residual matters’ and according to Michael Holding, it is down to “People responsible for West Indies cricket do not want Chris Gayle in the team.” ? Coach Gibson has not made himself popular since his appointment and questions are being raised on his ability to maintain discipline within the side.

Gayle, Sarwan and J Taylor are not only player that was unfair.
unfortunely due to fact that Samy is captain and a coach which is a Bowling coach and born in the WI toke over, but people failed to relise this thing have been happen even before these 3. Reason why only these three are mention is ecause only these three stand up to The Board an management. he biggest problem in west Indies Crickets isnt the Coach, th big Problem is the Management, The selectors, the selection panel have little or even maybe NO knowledge of West Indies Cricket. Plus a Very weak West Indies Board, I think Trinidad Cricket board should take over West Indies Cricket, they are a very Well Organisation, Currently Barbados Board have been stepping up, After a few year back of Bad and awful organisation. it's Time we Take politics out of our cricket work in de past, but dont work now.
I was a Massive support of this current progress of West Indies and I did support droping de senior player to get young player, but due o the lack of experience WI have lost 4(including this) of the last 5 est Matches, Not including India series. They had all the games in there hand some they came from behind.

I dont mine the 1 year experiance with a young Side, from Pakistan Series to Australia series. but england been number 1 and going to England where No one can beat them, even our Best 11, in 2009 and still cant beat them, We we had this same side and Sarwan and one more experience player in the team, we would of have won.

anyway I am waiting for October to see what WICB will do. Everyone's contract is finishing, even the Coach.

There are positives to take from this test... okay, the second innings is looking like an inevitable disaster, but Bresnan was awesome today. He's such an underrated cricketer.

I thought Rampaul was quite good today, did a lot of hard work, Roach hasn't been bad, and had it not been for two no balls then this could all have been very different and the Windies would be trying to build on a first innings lead.

That said, there's a long way to go for the Windies, the structures there leave a lot to be desired, it was their own fault they fell from grace so badly after being the best side in the world by miles during the 70's and 80's.

They really need consistent performers in the batting lineup.
