That spell was good enough to approach on a winning side. And who is Jones?! If he's Simon Jones, then dude you'll have to work with him to bowl some good length.
Mainly because i won SOTM for November and the support to carry on, i wont shut this but i will instead not write up the rest of the T20s, just give a re-cap.
So -
Unbeleivable how things change, eh? One minute were losing week in week out then all of a sudden with a bit of good form and a few wins were unstoppable. I even took 17 wickets through the group stages, the second highest of any bowler only behind the legend Shane Warne. We had won five out of six games. But back to back loses in which I was wicketless in both quickly seemed to knock us of our path but we went through comfortably to the next round with 10 points - in second place.
Everything was going brilliantly for me and i really thought we could win the T20 cup. That would surely get everyones attention and get me out of this sh*thole of a club, oh wait...
But can we change this good form in T20s to good form in other competitons? Don't bet on it.
Leicestershire Vs Glamorgan
County Championship D2
We lost the toss and we were put into bat on a good bowling wicket. Again my usual thoughts when we win the toss, chilling time. Powell and Elliot successfully set out to attack the bowling from Leicestershire as they put on 145 on 32 overs when Elliot when Elliot edged a sweep and was caught at first slip. Powell was out for 90 and Glamorgan lost a further four wickets for around 130 runs as they found themselves 272/6 when I found my way to the crease, why I was batting so high I don?t know but I did know what I had to do.
I always considered myself a spin specialist and with spin from both ends I really fancied my chances but with Bragg keeping the strike I only faced four ball of the spinners before Broad was brought on and I was brought off should I say. Broad hit me plumb in front and I took the hard walk to the pavilion.
Jones and Davies opened the bowling but they couldn?t find any luck as they were easily kept out but Betts struck right at the end of the day. I came on right at the begging of day two with a point to prove and straight away with an away swinger I found the edge of Sadlers bat and Elliot caught a good catch at second slip. But I didn?t find any luck for the rest of the spell and neither did the rest of the bowlers. When Leicestershire were 373-5 Crofty decided it was time to bring me on and again straight away I added to my wicket list! Paul Harrison edged behind my stock ball and I could be on for another five wicket haul. Five wickets to take and ive taken two already, ok im being optimistic but where would I be without that. But I wasn?t being too optimistic as I dismissed Amjad with a superb yorker.
But two next ball I squared Rosenberg up and the ball afterwards he edged the ball to David Hemp but he dropped it! Pfft, ill never forget when Peng dropped that catch on my debut and I won?t forget that either. But then only a few overs later with another yorker I bowled Hylton Ackerman on 179! 64/4 were my figures and Leicestershire were 426/7. Jones finally took the wicket of Rosenberg and then he got Broad out. We both had four, my 5fer was slipping away from me. But with the fourth ball of the over I took my second first class five wicket haul and got another match ball. However Leicestershire had a 144 run lead and we had two days and a bit to play. Powell and Elliot knew what to do however and they piled on the runs to the end the day 80 for no loss.
Glamorgan 316 all out.
Leicestershire 460 all out.
Glamorgan 80-0
Sounds like you've started to get a knack of getting wickets at the start of a spell haha, I reckon match will be a draw unless theres any major batting collapses.
Rain interrupted the start of day 3 and we soon overtook there score only three wickets down. But with the pitch turning square Amjad was deadly. He took Peng, Croft and Hemp out in quick succession and I came into bat with possibly my last ever innings at number eight. I couldn?t believe it! They had seven men round the bat. I was scared when he came into bowl and I attempted to cover drive him but I edge the ball right into the gap of the fielders and we got two. Amjad however took Bragg to get his fifth wicket but I finally found myself in good form. I got to double figures for my first time for Glamorgan (shocking!) and then hit two fours in quick succession but then Stuart Broad bowled me a quick in swinger and the England prospect had ended my innings on 18. I was oddly happy with it.
We ended up all out on 298 which left Leicestershire needing 154 to win, this was going to be a hard task for our bowlers but I was up for it.
I was given the new ball with Simon Jones and they fell 41/1 when Jones bowled Ackerman for 11. He also got Sadler out with his first ball of his next over and he continued his rampage when he bowler Paul Nixon and they were 67/3 but I couldn?t back him up at one end. That wouldn?t stop him as he hit Robinson in front of off stump and they were 76/4. I was taken off for Davies and in Davies? second over they fell 96/5 but they still needed 59 to win. Croft came on for Jones the next over and took fellow spinning all rounder Amjad out with a looping ball that didn?t turn.
49 to win with four wickets remaining but it got better for us when Davies hit Harrison in front off middle stump only one run later. Rosenberg and Henderson looked to put up some resistance but Rosenberg fell to a Davies bouncer. Two wickets needed for 31 runs but with Croft failing to take another wicket S Jones was brought back on and Crofty told me that I should warm up and he was throwing me in at the deep end. Gulp.
It was on odd descion considering how Davies had bowled compared to me but my first over was a maiden with a close LBW shout turned down. Jones gets Henderson out LBW! Woooo! 15 to win with one wicket remaining and I was bowling the next over. Neither me or Jones could find any luck for the next two overs with five runs being hit but I was still confident but the day ended early because of bad light.
I would bowl the first over of the day and I was up for it. But I couldn?t believe it, Bragg missed one and it went for four byes! That was four valuable runs. But next over Jones won us the game! He completed a ten wicket match as he got Singh in front of the wickets and we won by four runs.
