Hi, in cricket 2004 I'm pretty good in test mode, very good at scoring runs and now getting much better with the bowliong side (just ask Mr Lara, 39 all out ) however ODI annoy me. I tend to take a few wickets ok, but seem to concede a lot of runs now and then.

The opposition always seem to hit a lot of my balls for 6 or 4, even when they are pitched in difficult areas. However I try and do the same and they never travel as far and I get caught also playing for 4's, most of the time they get stopped in the field, (cover drives etc) I cant seem to find the boundary regularly. Any help and tips would be appreciated.

set a strong offside field and bowl an offstum line, keep the ball fractionally short and practice moving it off the seam. With spinners vary spin and pace.

Seems like you need to improve your batting skills too, if you are finding the fielders that often. Are you playing on hard level? Are you using any patches? If you are playing the unpatched game, even on the hard level its very easy to make 15-16 runs per over. My most productive shots seemed to be the lofted advance straight drives with the power button (usually go for sixes), the lofted advance flick over square leg with the power button (usually a BIG six) and the advance cover drive. Look at the fielders circle prior to your delivery to see that you are not hitting the lofted shots where the fielders are. The CPU usually places a fielder in the area where you have just played a couple of lofted shots. Work on these and ODIs wont be a problem at all.

Also if your timing is off then you usually find the fielders regularly. Work on improving that too. Good luck!

It does, but I think you need to be able to play decent at the original level first in order to be any good at Tutsi's patches.

I agree. Even though patches are supposed to improve gameplay, they also make the game tougher. I do not think any patches are going to help if you cannot play the original game well.

So, the idea will be to practice and play the original game well before using any of the AI patches.
