The tour of Manicaland Bulls and England at England had their first OD match at Kennington Oval, London. A beautifully carved stadium along with a majestic pavilion. But this was not seemed by Manicaland Bulls as they tasted their first defeat here.
Andrew Strauss, English captain won the coin toss and decided to bowl. The pitch was poor one, the worst ever seen. The conditions were unfavorable and everything wasn't seem to be their way.
Marsh and Taylor started off for Bulls but weren't able to do much before Onions and Plunkett kicked them off. Just as this, other batsmen too continued to fail as Tredwell and Yardy struck severe blows at pivotal time. Atlast, Campbell and Utseya down the order brought off 49 runs stand which was finally broken by a doosra deliever of Yardy.
Manicaland Bulls ended with a minute score of 182 runs.
On the other hand, English openers Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss began steadfastly with Strauss missing 50 and Cook making delightful 56. After a huge stand of 166 runs between these two, Lumb did nothing as his stumps were messed by Swann in his very second delivery. Tiny partnership arose between Bopara and Prior eying for winning stand but 'NO' said Swann and Steyn. Then Wright and Yardy put the winning runs on the board and snatched first one day game.
The man of the match was James Tredwell for his howling figures of 9.5-1-29-3 which demolished Bulls' batting order.
